Crock-Pot Browning Slow Cooker

Do you love your Crock-Pot? I’ve enjoyed slow cooker meals for years, but never actually had a real, authentic Crock-Pot. Until now. The folks at Crock-Pot sent me one of their newest models, the Crock-Pot® 6-Qt “Browning” Slow Cooker. This crock-pot is awesome people! Not only is it a traditional crock-pot but the crock is also a stovetop safe cooking pot. Why would you want such a thing? That’s easy. For those recipes where you need to brown something before putting it into the crock-pot. Now you can brown it right in the crock-pot, saving yourself a pot or pan to wash AND adding the flavor from the juices into our recipe. Win-win! The new Crock-Pot® 6-Qt “Browning” Slow Cooker has an MSRP of $79.99, and is available on crockpot.com.

I’ve used this new “Browning” Crock-Pot a couple of times over the past week. It’s so pretty, the stainless finish goes great with my black and stainless kitchen. I love that it’s got a built-in digital timer, so that I don’t have to remember to go check on dinner to see if it’s done. So convenient! Once the meal is finished cooking the Crock-Pot switches over to warm, so your food will be hot and ready when you’re ready to eat. Instead of a heavy inner crock, this “crock” part of this new Crock-Pot is made of DuraCeramic. This is what makes it able to be used on the stove, just like a regular cooking pot. And, it’s surprisingly light!

So back to the topic at hand. Do you make a mean slow cooker dish that everyone raves about? Then listen up. Crock-Pot® brand is getting ready to launch its annual consumer contest — the Ultimate Crock-Pot Crock-Star Contest. The contest kicks off on October 1. To enter just visit www.crockstars.com anytime between October 1-31 and submit your entry.

This is all of the instructions for the recipe you just saw in the video. It’s super tasty and super easy to make. Check it out!

Unfortunately, I do NOT have a favorite Crock-Pot recipe, because we do not have a Crock-Pot! I DO have a very large file of Crock-Pot recipes that I have been collecting for YEARS!

Actually, I take that back, we do have a very old “slow-cooker” that we picked up from a down defunct catering business, but it is HUGE (industrial size?) contraption that’s bigger than a kitchen sink and is only really suitable for maybe a 25+ pound turkey! Given that there are only two of us now ~ I would love to have a nice, practical one, like the prize so I can start making some of those recipes I’ve been saving for many years! Thanks.

Years ago our stove crapped out. We were in a tight spot with money so it took a month of saving to be able to buy a new one. With 4 kids we HAD to prepare our meals at home. I learned so many neat recipes. I also learned you can fix anything in a crock pot even deserts. Our 2 best ones are Death by triple chocolate and stuffed apples. I do not think I will be entering the Ultimate Crock-Pot Crock-Star Contest. Because I am not a good filmer.

Reply
valmg October 12, 2014 - 8:08 am

April – I am very curious about the stuffed apples. What was in them?

Reply
April Farley October 12, 2014 - 9:08 am

You leave the peel on the apple but you core all 6 of them. You stuff a mixture of brown sugar , cinnamon, chopped pecans , lemon zest, and each apple gets a pat of real butter. squeeze the juice of the lemon that you zested over top the apples. also sprinkle any left over brown sugar, cinnamon and pecan mixture over top . Turn your slow cooker on low for 6 hours. They smell so great and taste even better! The lemon really brightens up the whole thing. Enjoy!
