There’s no bigger crowd pleaser than a cake. But is it really all that easy to create stunning toppers with sculptured features, shapes, and characters? It is now . . .

Professional cake designer Ramla Kahn provides more than 101 amazing projects that will inspire bakers of all levels to take their creations to a whole new level. Khan offers readers clear advice and step-by-step instructions on themes that include Romantic Vintage, Steampunk, Under the Sea, and Winter Wonderland; ideas for enhancing cupcakes and larger cakes of any size; insider tips for creating the perfect finishing touch every time; and more.

I like desserts. Cake is dessert. On a good day I can make a cake. I can’t decorate it though. I have never been able to make cakes that look pretty. Heck, even just plain old icing doesn’t look its best when I do it. The idea of making a cake with fancy chocolate decorations makes me smile. But I just would have no idea where to start. Which is why I accepted the offer to check out “Chocolate Modeling Cake Toppers.”

Chapters in the book include:

  • Romantic Vintage
  • Steampunk
  • Under The Sea
  • Winter Wonderland
  • The Secret Garden
  • Oriental
  • Whimsical Woodland
  • Arabian Nights
  • Love Birds
  • Teddy Bear Picnic

I can’t really call this cookbook. It’s more of a how to make book. There are tons and tons, and even more tons, of photos in this book. A chapter begins with a gorgeous color photo of a beautifully decorated cake. The pages that follow show how to make each element of the decoration. Each different element has illustrated step-by-step directions on how to make it. The photos will definitely make you want to eat cake, and probably try and make it as well. The cakes that this book shows how to make are as lovely and breathtaking as any you will find in a bakery, and are sure to impress your guests. I’d recommend this book for anyone that enjoys baking, cake decorating, and entertaining, as well as those who are just up for learning something new.

A good cake is a rarity--bakery or homemade. Too bad so many bakeries folded as supermarkets expanded. Too bad the one friend I have who bakes and decorates divinely lives so far away.

I look at these books the way other people look at works of art. I wish I could recreate them, but I think the people who are artsy enough to follow the directions and make them look beautiful are like magicians!

I have just started making cakes as a hobby. This book looks like a fantastic addition for my learning library!

Hmmm that's interesting. I would've assumed it was a cookbook. Guess that's why they say don't judge a book by its cover.

I've never even heard of modeling chocolate. Fondant, yes. But not chocolate that was meant to mold like that.
