If you’re like me, you probably take note of brands in different areas of the grocery store, some areas more so than others. Take the dairy area. I have seen Buddig cold cuts in the refrigerated cases there for years. Buddig is a family owned and operated company that has been around for more than 72 years. The Buddig family also owns and operates the Old Wisconsin company, which has been making unique hardwood-smoked Wisconsin sausages for over 50 years. Being family owned and operated, the company values tradition. One area of our lives where traditions often become really visible is mealtime. It is with this in mind that the #MakeItDelish Recipe Contest was launched.

The #MakeItDelish Recipe Contest runs for three months – October, November, and December. To enter you’ll need to submit a recipe that includes at least one Buddig and/or Old Wisconsin Product and the secret ingredient for that month. The secret ingredient for the month of November is potatoes. You can submit as many recipes as you like as long as they adhere to the entry guidelines. But, if you enter more than one recipe do know that if you win in November you cannot win again in December. All three of the monthly winners become Grand Prize finalists.

Here’s a recipe I thought would be a great fit for the contest. It’s super simple and pretty quick to put together. One of the great things about this recipe, besides being so simple, is that it will pull flavor from the ham. Another is that it works as a snack, appetizer or meal. The recipe as I list it below makes 6 cups. To double it just double all of the ingredients. Here’s how I made it.

Cheesy Ham And Potato Cups

Ingredients

  • 1 box Pepperidge Farms Puff Pastry Cups
  • 2 oz package Buddig Ham
  • 1 large potato
  • 1 cup cheese pasta sauce (I used Ragu Double Cheddar)
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

Make the Puff Pastry Cups according to the package.

While the Puff Pastry Cups are baking, dice the potato.

Place a little olive oil in a frying pan.

Add the potato, onion powder and garlic powder.

Lightly fry the diced potato.

When the potatoes are almost ready pour the cheese sauce over them and cook for another two minutes, or just long enough to heat the sauce and let it blend with the potatoes.

Remove the Puff Pastry Cups from the oven and remove their tops according to the instructions.

Place a piece of the ham into the cooked Puff Pastry Cup.

The ham should form a bed (almost a bowl shape in the pastry crust).

Spoon the potato and cheese mixture on top of the ham.

Serve immediately.
