Great Gift Idea For #GardenStateGrads

It’s the last week of school here at the Jersey Shore. That also means it’s Graduation time. It’s the time of year where students are thinking about many things including college and money. I mean, let’s face it, college costs money. Some students receive monetary gifts to help them get through the school year. Others worked in high school and saved money. Others work while in college. There are even some that fall into two or more of those groups! So, as high school graduates look to us for guidance this summer, one place we need to offer sound guidance surely includes money and how to manage it.

It’s never to late to save money and want to manage ones money soundly. One thing that’s invaluable in both of those things is a decent bank account. Currently Boiling Springs Savings Bank has a terrific offer for students that is running through June 30,2015. When a student age 14-23 visits his/her nearest branch and opens a Student Checking Account with $20.15 or more, he/she will receive a $20.15 interest bonus deposit from Boiling Springs Savings Bank in addition to the initial deposit. And that’s not all that they have to offer!

Boiling Springs also offers great features including:

  • No monthly fees
  • Interest earned on all balances
  • Free specialty checks or a discount on custom checks
  • Free online banking
  • Free online bill payment
  • Free 24-hour telephone banking
  • Minimum deposit to open account is $1.00
  • Free transactions at Boiling Springs ATMs with Boiling Springs ATM card or Debit MasterCard
  • Direct deposit
  • Overdraft protection transfer service available

Once your student reaches age 23 their Student Checking account will be converted to a regualr NOW account.

It’s important that all children understand the importance of saving money, as well as spending it wisely. They should know how to balance a checkbook and read a bank statement long before they’re on their own. This account is a great way to help kids know all of these things. The money they have or accumulate while in college will have to carry them through, going towards things like school expenses, recreation and even bills.

So, when you’re deciding what to give that grad this year, don’t automatically reach for your wallet. Consider reaching for your keys and taking them to Boiling Springs Savings Bank to open an account.

This is such a great program. I have been working with my kids trying to teach them more about money. WE have one heading off to college this year and another next year, then 2 more down the line.

I love the education of kids on finances. It's amazing how many people are not articulate on financial matters.
