coffee beans disclosure

French fries. Almost everyone loves them. How can you not?! We love to eat them here. Despite how much we love to eat them, I made french fries from scratch only a handful of times (less than one hand LOL) in the past 5 years. Why? Too much work, starting with all that peeling and cutting. All of that has changed since the arrival of the Weston French Fry Cutter. Today I’m going to share my thoughts on it, along with a recipe for Air Fryer Parmesan Ranch French Fries.

Weston French Fry Cutter

What is the Weston French Fry Cutter?

The Weston French Fry Cutter (model #36-3501-W) lets you make fresh french fries such as those you find in a restaurant right in your own home.

This french fry cutter is made of heavy duty cast iron with stainless steel components. Translated, that means the machine has quality parts, and is rather sizable and a bit weighty. This fry cutter can be mounted to any flat surface and has suction cup feet to keep it stable and in place. The cutter could even be mounted vertically if you wanted to.

Weston’s French Fry Cutter features stainless steel blades. This model comes with a 3/8″ cutting blade, and additional 1/4″ and 1/2″ cutting blades are available. The french fry cutter disassembles for cleaning.

Speaking of assembly, you will need to do a little work to get the finished product together. The main part of the unit comes already assembled. You need to attach the handle and the suction cup feet. Instructions are provided for doing this and they are pretty easy to follow.

Why You Want It

It’s magic. I mean, obviously it’s not actually magic but it feels like it is to me. This restaurant style french fry cutter reduces the work of making french fries down to seconds. Literally seconds to turn a single potato into ready-to-cook fries.

To use the Weston French Fry Cutter, simply put a whole potato into place and push down the handle on the right.

This will push the whole potato towards the blade.

Once the potato reaches the blade, the cutter produces perfectly cut french fries that will come out on the left end.

Weston French Fry Cutter

If you like french fries, this french fry cutter simply is a must have. Using this fry cutter is so easy that we’ve been making fries almost every day for almost two weeks, trying different recipes and using them as sides and snacks. Now when my oldest asks me for fries I don’t mind, they take a couple of minutes to get into the air fryer and he’s a happy kid. The fry cutter is on the large side so you can’t just put it in a drawer like a knife. I wondered where I was going to store it but as of yet I haven’t had to worry about it as it’s been used almost every day. Be sure to check below, where I’m including our favorite recipe so far – Air Fryer Parmesan Ranch French Fries. I’m actually thinking about trying it out on some other fruits and vegetables, I’m curious to see what else it can do.

Air Fryer Parmesan Ranch French Fries

Prep 4 minutes
Cooking time  22 minutes
Servings 2

Air Fryer Parmesan Ranch French Fries make a great appetizer, side or snack. This easy 5-ingredient recipe goes from start to finish in about 30 minutes.

Equipment Needed

  • air fryer (I used a Hamilton Beach 3.2 liter digital air fryer, watch for the review of that soon too.)
  • Weston french fry cutter
  • measuring spoons
  • large glass mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 2 russet potatoes
  • 3 tsp ranch mix
  • 3 tsp grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • sea salt, to taste
  • olive oil sprayAir Fryer Parmesan Ranch French Fries Recipe From Val's KitchenInstructions

Lightly spray the air fryer’s basket with nonstick spray. I like to use an olive oil spray.

Cut the whole potatoes into french fries. Using the french fry cutter is the quickest and easiest way to do this. You can leave the skin on or take it off depending on your personal preference.

Place the potatoes into a large glass mixing bowl.

Add the seasonings and combine thoroughly.

Place the potatoes into the basket of the air fryer and close.

Set the air fryer to cook at 375 f for 22 minutes.

Open the air fryer after 10 minutes have passed and shake the fries around. This will help the fries brown more evenly.

Return the fries to the air fryer and close to finish cooking.

Once the cooking time has finished, check the fries. If they’re done then remove and plate. If they’re not done to your liking, return the basket to the air fryer and cook for another 2 minutes before checking them again.

Serve and enjoy Air Fryer Parmesan Ranch French Fries as is or with your favorite dipping sauce.

Should I preheat the air fryer?

I did not preheat the air fryer.

Can I use any air fryer to make these fries?

Sure! Do remember, though, that all air fryers are a little different including settings and temperature. If you’re using a different air fryer you may need to tweak the recipe a bit to suit your needs.

Why would I cook these in the air fryer instead of the oven or a deep fryer?

Using an air fryer requires very little oil, whereas a deep fryer means lots and lots of oil. Using an air fryer instead of baking in an oven is generally a little faster with recipes like this because you don’t have to wait for a big oven to preheat. Plus, an air fryer won’t heat up the kitchen like a regular oven does.

These sound delicious and so much easier to make when you have a French fries cutter to hand rather than having to cut by hand.

Now these look like some absolutely DELICIOUS chips! I had no idea you could get a prep machine like that – talk about making things a lot more simple.

Oh I like that cutter! They actually do look like restaurant chips, I am impressed! I am just about to buy an air fryer so we can have nicer chips at home but it always annoys me that they end up looking like wedges or just random shapes as I cannot seem to cut the potato properly. My son would be very happy if I made fries like these! It does seem a little bit pricey but the quality sounds like it is good and I guess if it is used enough then it is worth it

We have a chip cutter like this and it’s great for making sure everything is the same size so they cook consistently. I need to try making Parmesan chips though x

The Fry cutter will make cooking so much easier. I love how it would “instantly” cut potatoes for me. That would reduce my grandson’s waiting time. He gets a little impatient waiting for his fries to be done. Not anymore when I get that gadget!
