Ever wonder how big or small you would be next to a wild bear? We got an idea of what size my youngest would be when compared to some of the well-known bears when we visited ZooAmerica on a recent trip to Hershey, PA. ZooAmerica showcases some of the animals and plants native to North America. If you’re looking for animals from countries other then the US you will not find them here.
In the Southern Swamps area you’ll find animals like alligators, snakes and owls. The alligator snapping turtle was particularly interesting looking. The Northlands area had eagles, falcons, a porcupine and a lynx. There’s also a gray wolf in there but we didn’t see him. The Big Sky Country area had elk, prairie dogs, mountain lion, and pronghorns. The Great Southwest area had snakes, ferrets, lizards, owls, coati, turtles, tortoise, and the ocelot. The Eastern Woodlands area had owls, black bears, otters, deer and a bobcat.
You can walk through the entire 11-acre zoo in about two hours.

I was suppose to visit Hershey this summer but it didn't quite work out. Look forward to adding it to our summer list next year.

What a fun place to visit. Someday I am going to take my family on a trip back there so we can see all of the fun places that are around there including this one. Thanks for the great review.

Amazing how wire can hold a strong ocelot in. too bad she wasn't in the mood for posing like the bobcat graciously did.

I had no idea that Polar bears were so large! I love to visit the zoo and my son goes too. Hopefully we will get to visit Hershey PA someday.
