My toddler is at that stage right now where he wants to do everything on his own. ” Mommy I can do it like a big boy” are his exact words. All though he is very independent, some projects require me to do most of the work. Some things just are not safe such as hot glue or cutting. Things like glitter, glue and paint make things quite messy. When giving the opportunity to try the Kiwi Crate Thanksgiving Activity Box I happily accepted. Thanksgiving is just around the corner and this was perfect activity to keep my toddler occupied on a chilly fall day.

I’ll be honest, I have never heard of Kiwi Crate before. It is a monthly subscription box geared toward children ages 3 to 7. My little one is only 2 but he really had a great time. Each box includes all the materials you will need and there are 2 to 3 activities per box. Kiwi Crate promotes learning, exploring, and creativity. Each month there is a different theme whether it is dinosaurs, gardening or holiday activities. You pay the monthly fee and everything you need is sent right to your house and shipping is free! There are just some days I run out of fun things to do with my little one and Kiwi Crate boxes are perfect for those days! No need thinking about what activity to do next or running out to the store to grab supplies.
Our Kiwi Crate activity box came with 2 activities. The first activity was making cute little turkey place cards and the second was a fun game. Everything I needed was in the box, just had to grab some scissors.

Here’s what we received for the place cards:
- Feathers
- Clay
- Pom-poms
- Goggly eyes
- Glue dots
- Felt
- Place cards
The instructions were really easy to read with pictures. First thing we did was divided out our clay into 6 lumps to make 6 turkeys.

Roll each of the pieces into a ball and gently place on table so they didn’t roll away.

There’s my little one rolling out his clay.
We made the body, now our turkey needed a head! The glue dots made it simple and mess free to attach the pom-poms and give our turkeys a head.

Use your scissors to make a beak and wattle out of the felt. Peel off the backing from your beak and wattle and attach them along with the googly eyes to your turkey.

While I was writing out names on our place cards hubby was showing our son how to stick the feathers in the clay.

How cute are they!
For the second activity in the box we made a turkey game. The object of this game is to take the ball and hit the feathers to knock them and the turkey down. This entertained my son for well over an hour. He even woke up from his nap to play his turkey game some more!
Here’s what was in the box:
- 3 small boxes
- 1 large box
- Turkey
- Feathers
- Crayons
- Wattle and beak
- Craft sticks
- Clear stickers
- Foam stickers
- Goggly eyes
- Ball

Started off by having my son color in the turkey, feather, wattle and beak. Of course I helped him because even at the age of 28, I STILL love to color. Hubby was busy attaching the boxes with the clear stickers.

Once your finished coloring it is time to make your turkey. Once again this was super simple. Lay your boxes flat and use your foam stickers to attach your turkey to the big box. Decorate your turkey by using the foam stickers to stick on his eyes, beak and wattle. Take your craft sticks and place a foam sticker on one side to attach your feather and use a foam sticker on the other side to attach them to each of the smaller boxes.
To play the game place your turkey on the table or ground. Using the ball that was included in your box toss it at the feathers. Try to hit all the feathers and knock the turkey over! We had a hard time to get the turkey to stay standing upright. The craft sticks made it a little top heavy. So, we used a little piece of tape to tape him on the ground. The tape kept him standing but still able to be knocked over by the ball.

These Kiwi Crate boxes are great! They would be great at a play date or even as a gift. They are reasonably priced and good quality. There is still time to order your Thanksgiving activity box so hurry up!
The limited-edition Thanksgiving crates are available with or without a subscription for $19.95 at kiwicrate.com/shop.
