No update on the asking out, his friend was over until basketball practice. After practice hubby and I went to the Verizon cell store and out for dinner, then I had to take my son to a female friend’s birthday party that he was invited to a couple of weeks ago. They were celebrating her birthday with a bowling party, the kind with loud music and neony lights and pizza. The party began at 9pm tonight. Yes, that’s began. I took him inside at 9pm, where he found the alleys for the party. He and one other boy from our neighborhood were the only boys there, all of the other kids were girls. The two boys were uncharacteristically quiet, which really surprised me. Five minutes later it dawned on me, when I looked down into the seating area near the scoring machine and saw the two boys sitting to the left side and the girls to the right, or more precisely, everywhere else. Of course, the girls were going what girls do, chatting and giggling and whispering and all of that other standard twelve year old girl stuff. He just phoned to let me know the other boy’s parents would bring him home and to ask my if the other boy could sleep over. That means it’ll be tomorrow before I get the scoop on if he had a good time or not. We gave the girl a $20 Target gift card so she could pick out her own gifts. My son originally thought she might like clothes but had no idea what her favorite color is and apparently had never noticed what style clothes she wears. He’s so oblivious. I’m just grateful that he didn’t want to give her a gold bangle bracelet.
