When we bought our refrigerator almost fifteen years ago we chose a side by side with a built in water machine and ice dispenser. The water machine even has one of those refrigerator water filters attached. A couple of years back part of the ice machine broke. Since then I’ve been using ice trays. I live in hope that the ice trays won’t become the next milk carton. In my house it’s quite common to open the frig and find an almost empty carton, or even an empty carton. TJ leaves them there. He’ll also leave an empty box in the cabinet. I keep telling him to get rid of the empty containers and add whatever the item is to the shopping list, which is right on the frig. Why can’t he do this?

Hey, he's better than my daughter. She always leaves one cookie in the bag, or a half a handful of crushed chips in the bag, or one pizza roll in the box. That drives me crazy.
I would not make it without the ice-maker.

When our refrigerator ice maker died and refused to be repaired, we bought a stand alone ice maker. It is about the size of a bread maker machine and cost about $199. at Home Depot. We debated the purchase at the time, but were tired of buying bagged ice. It has been a wonderful machine over several years of use and we love it. If you use a lot of ice and are not yet ready to replace your refrigerator, you might consider it!

At least your son is a minor and legally not responsible. Train him fast or he will be like his namesake. Poor me with a husband who leaves empty boxes in the freezer, empty containers in the refrigerator, empty boxes in the cabinets, and neglects to put the next roll of toilet paper on its holder.
