I enjoy television, movies and music. They are all a big part of my lifestyle, and I enjoy all three through Verizon FiOS®. Recently I received a gift from the folks at Verizon FiOS®, thanking me for sharing my thoughts on new Custom TV as a part of this campaign.  Before I share why all of the items in the box were perfect for my lifestyle, I want to remind you of what Verizon Custom TV is, just in case you missed my last post.

Verizon FiOS® Custom TV is a solution that enables both new and existing customers to create an entertainment package customized according to their viewing taste. The customized tv base package, priced at $54.99, includes 36 pre-selected channels and your local broadcast channels. You also get to choose a minimum of two channel packs with the base package. There are a total of seven channel packs to choose from, including Lifestyle, Entertainment, Kids, Pop Culture, News & Info, Sports, and Sports Plus. You can choose to add additional channel packs after the first two at a rate of just $10 each.

I know a lot of people that have been frustrated that they had to pay for channels that they didn’t watch or want. I think it’s fantastic that Verizon FOS® listened to their customer feedback and used it to create a whole new way to buy television. It’s a super responsive thing for Verizon FiOS® to do. It’s also an industry first, making Verizon the only pay-TV provider to introduce tailored TV packages allowing customers to choose the types of channels they want without paying for those they don’t.

Now. Back to the amazing box of tech! When I opened the box I couldn’t believe my eyes. The box contained a number of awesome products that were absolutely perfect for my lifestyle. Products that I’d pick for myself, much in the same way you can pick your channels with FiOS® Custom TV.

The highlight of the box was an iPad Mini. I pink puffy heart my iPad Mini! it’s perfect for anyone with a busy lifestyle, and really useful to those that enjoy tv, movies and music. And that red pen? It’s no ordinary pen! Bold and sassy and cast in a red similar to that found in the Verizon FiOS® logo, this pen also functions as a stylus and has a built-in 8gb flash drive. It’s totally like a tech toy that James Bond would have! But more importantly, it’s not only something that I use but also something that I need! Why? That’s simple. For me a stylus behaves a lot like a pen – I’d rather write with a pen over fingerpaint any day. Plus, I have long fingernails so a stylus just works better on touchscreens.

Of course you don’t have to use a style on an iPad Mini, but it’s natural for me. I can now breeze through the Verizon FiOS® apps, selecting shows to watch.

I can also use it to access my Verizon FiOS® DVR! I can do just about everything from the iPad that I can do using the FiOS® remote, including schedule future recordings and manage subscriptions.

Do you ever like to play a prank on your other half? I do. The remote in the FiOS® app actually controls your real television. I’ve learned that it’s pretty funny to covertly use the app to change the channel while the hubby has the remote. The first time I did this I had to work so hard not to laugh out loud at his reaction to channels seemingly changing by themselves.

Paired with the iPad Mini, the JBL Clip rechargeable portable wireless speaker lets me take my entertainment anywhere. For the moment my favorite thing to do is take it outside onto the porch with my coffee.

I keep my new Boogie Board nearby at all times. I am a big fan of lists and notes to myself. It’s so much easier to write it on the Boogie Board and just erase when I need to. This will save me a lot of paper, and I won’t be losing it like I lose some of my post-its.

FiOS® and these amazing gifts really allow me to enjoy my entertainment on my own terms and in my own time. Plus, who wouldn’t sign up to receive only the channels that they want!
