Whether you like it or not there’s no ignoring it. Bacon is everywhere. It’s in, on and over our food. It’s on our clothing. It’s even in toothpaste, air fresheners and candles. Campbell’s, makers of those cans of fantastically versatile and yummy soups I always have in my cabinets, has just announced the newest member of the Campbell’s Skillet Sauces family – Bacon Cheddar Beef.
Campbell’s Skillet Sauces Bacon Cheddar Beef comes in a 9 ounce pouch. To make the dinner you need to cook a pound of ground beef. At the same time, in a different pot you need to cook some pasta (1/2 cup uncooked). Once the pasta is cooked you drain it and add the sauce. Then you add the meat and stir it all together. It takes about 20 minutes to make.

I love the idea behind this product. I love a quick and easy meal. Sure I do like to cook from scratch as well, but there are some days that a product like this is far more convenient. The cheddar sauce is just that – a sauce. It’s very creamy, and adheres to the pasta and beef well. No grainy powder there, which was greatly appreciated. There’s nothing worse then eating something and encountering a chunk of undissolved powder, right? Yuck! The hubby and my oldest cleared their plates and went looking for more immediately, and before I knew it the whole skillet was empty.
If Campbell’s wanted to really delight this mama they’d make this a tiny bit more convenient. No I don’t want them to come cook it for me. (But then again… LOL). I love one-pot meals. If this could be done in one-pot it would be awesome. Also. I also love simplicity. The amount of pasta used is a bit odd. I had to get out my measuring cup, which annoyed me a little because it means one more thing to wash. Selfish of me I know. Am I the only one that thinks in terms of boxes? A product calling for a half or a whole box, or even 8 or 16 oz, would be so welcome because you can eyeball that.

I haven't seen this in the store yet. Sauces blend and taste so much better then powders, don't they!
