MY THOUGHTS

I received a copy of Step Up Revolution Dance Workout for review. Being a dancer for most of my childhood, I am a sucker for dance workouts. These are the only types of workouts besides walking that keep me interested, hence my vast collection of dance workout DVDs and video games. Being as I’m also a fan of the Step Up movies, I was excited to get my hands on this one.

One thing I noticed off the bat is the custom workout option. I love when workout DVDs add this feature, because it makes it easier to choose which workouts you want to do if you don’t have time for them all. This also lets you complete different workouts each day so your body doesn’t get too used to the moves.

The dance moves are very catchy. I was able to pick them up rather quickly, but as mentioned, I own several dance workout DVDs and games and have a dancing background. I’m not sure that someone who is new to the dance workout scene would pick up the moves quite so easily. The DVD isn’t exactly a teaching tool – more like a try-to-follow-along-or-you’ll-be-lost type of workout.

The fact that there are only 4 dance routines makes this one a little boring once you conquer them all. I prefer workout DVDs to have several routines so it doesn’t get boring too quickly. This one falls short on that aspect.

Overall, this is certainly a good cardio workout that can be added to your workout routines to spice things up a bit here and there. I wouldn’t recommend it for the dance workout beginner, nor as an everyday workout, but it certainly is a good addition to your workout DVD collection.
