Taste of Home Recipes Across America is divided into five regions of the United States: Northeast, South, Midwest, Southwest, and West. The cookbook brings you 735 staple recipes from the regions, all shared by real home cooks who create the dishes for their own families. Try out anything and everything from across the country: Philly Cheesesteaks (Northeast), Bacon Collard Greens (South), State Fair Cream Puffs (Midwest), Chicken-Fried Steaks (Southwest), California Sushi Rolls (West). Taste of Home Recipes Across America is packed with main meals, side dishes, and desserts, so you can create full meals from each region, or make it fun by mixing up several regions in one meal!

For my first experiment with recipes from the cookbook, I decided to combine a main dish from the West (Sweet Onion BBQ Burgers) with a side dish from the Midwest (Creamed Corn). Both recipes were absolutely delicious and very easy to make – and they complemented each other perfectly!

The next day, I made three different recipes to enjoy throughout the day: Maple Pancakes (Northeast), Crawfish Fettucine (South), and Mexican Ice Cream (Southwest). For the fettucine, I substituted shrimp instead of crawfish. I was impressed with all three recipes. It’s not often that recipes from cookbooks end up closely resembling the cookbook photos, but these did and they all tasted delicious!

Recipes Across America Cookbook

So many recipes in this cookbook contain few ingredients – many of which are ‘typical’ ingredients most people have in their homes. The fact that the recipes are all shared by home cooks is a big contributing factor in them being so easy to make – and most have quick prep and cook times too! I also enjoyed reading the blurbs about each recipe stated by the home cook who shared it, and the fun facts on each page about the respective regions.

I wish I were there for the crawfish fettucine. Crayfish rules.
