I was in the mood to make lasagna but wanted to do something different with it. We love brown gravy, so I decided to try making a lasagna with brown gravy.
INGREDIENTS
- 3 lbs ground beef
- 1x 18 oz jar brown gravy
- 1 box no bake lasagna noodles (12 noodles)
- 24 oz ricotta cheese
- 8 oz shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 2 tsp garlic powder
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 325.
Brown ground beef.
Drain ground beef and place in large bowl.
Add ricotta cheese, garlic powder, onion powder and 6 oz of the shredded cheddar into the bowl and mix well.

Spray baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
Place a thin layer of gravy on the bottom of the pan.
Create a layer of noodles, placing 3 noodles side by side.
Spoon about a third of the meat mixture over the noodles, spreading out evenly.

Create another layer of noodles.
Lay down another layer of meat.
Repeat one more time, creating a third layer of noodles and then meat.
Place the remaining 3 noodles on top.
Spread a layer of gravy over the top layer of noodles, covering it.
Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheddar across the top.

Cover pan in aluminum foil.
Bake for 30 minutes.
Remove foil from tray and bake for another 20-25 minutes.
Remove from oven.
Let sit for a few minutes and serve.

Sorry for the lousy final picture.
We did like this lasagna. it’s good this way, but I know it can be improved a birt. It has a sort of Hamburger Helper crossed with salisbury steak flavor going on. But it does need something, we’re just not quite sure what it is yet.

perhaps changing the cheese up, to a white cheese....like white american, swiss or muenster? or leaving out the ricotta and replacing it with mozzerella and using cheddar. Also some sauteed mushrooms may go well mixed in with the meat mixture.

Oh yes, you could do all sorts of things with the cheeses. If you like mushrooms try adding them in!

Spices, onions, garlic, worschester sauce, sour cream are possible options. My bet is that a different brown gravy would change the taste.

This might be good with either layered rice or layered egg noodles instead of the lasagna noodles. What about if you stirred some sour cream into the brown gravy? I'd also saute some onions and mix them in too!
