ABOUT THE 163 BEST PALEO SLOW COOKER RECIPES COOKBOOK
The paleo diet is one of most popular diets being followed today and has been embraced by nearly 1.5 million people in North America. The basic principle of the diet is that the recipes contain no grains or legumes (therefore making all of them gluten-free), no refined sugars and no refined oils or processed ingredients.
Slow cookers are hugely popular because they’re so convenient and the results so delicious. All the recipes in this book pay very close attention to paleo guidelines, while also recognizing that there’s a wide variety of reasons that people choose to eat paleo that go way beyond weight loss. So there’s room to be flexible depending on your personal requirements and/or expectations of the diet.
Judith Finlayson is a bestselling cookbook author whose lifelong love of food and passion for cooking has translated into sales of over 1 million cookbooks, including many popular slow cooker cookbooks.
MY THOUGHTS
I love making meals in a slow cooker. They’re so tasty. And as you may recall, my youngest son requires a gluten-free diet. When offered the opportunity to check out the new cookbook, The 163 Best Paleo Slow Cooker Recipes Cookbook: 100% Gluten-Free, I couldn’t turn it down.
The beginning of this book includes a section about the paleo diet and some foods, along with a section about slow cookers.
Chapters include:
- Starters and Snacks
- Soups
- Poultry
- Fish and Seafood
- Beef and Veal
- Pork and Lamb
- Just Veggies
- Desserts
- Condiments and Accompaniments
Each chapter has an index of the recipes included in it. The recipes are easy to understand. I like simple recipes. The recipes in this cookbook call for a lot of ingredients, many of which are herbs, spices and seasonings. I was familiar with or had at least heard of many of them. The cookbook also includes tips for prep and making ahead of time. Each recipe says how many it serves, and many are marked can be halved and contain notes in the tips on how to do so, in case you don’t need that many servings. The recipes do not include prep time. Cooking time is in the recipe, but I’d really prefer to see it highlighted somewhere, since that along with prep time is often what helps me decide what I’m making. Recipes I think I’d like to try include Oh So Retro Swedish Meatballs, Chicken Provencal, French-Country Chicken, Turkey Meatballs In Tomato Sauce, Tomato-Braised Turkey Breast, Down-Home Smothered Steak, and Best-Ever Bolognese Sauce. This cookbook would be great for anyone interested in following a gluten-free or paleo diet, as well as those looking for some new slow cooker recipes.

last but not least... my fav slow cooker recipe is to take a big old pork roast with my special seasonings and apple cider vinegar on top of spuds and sweet spuds.... the assorted spuds with vinegar and pork... so YUM! nope... wait, maybe it's my burgundy leg of lamb with mini onions and herbs... goshers, anything is better in a slow cooker! - lavendersbluegreen(at)yahoo(dot)com
