Kernel Seasons review and giveaway

We'd love it if you shared it!

All four members of my family love popcorn. Popcorn, a whole grain that is naturally low in calories and fat, is one of the snacks that we always have in the house. What’s not to love about a snack that tastes great, isn’t full of unhealthy fattening ingredients and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg? It’s one of those foods that can be served in hundreds of different ways and there’s no wrong way to make it (except for burnt). Did you know that American Pilgrims ate popcorn like breakfast cereal with milk? I didn’t.

One of the terrific things about popcorn is that it’s so versatile. You can even use it for crafts. Here’s three fun and easy activities using supplies you may already have in the house, courtesy of Kernel Season’s.

  1. Popcorn holiday sheep – draw a sheep’s head and feet on construction paper. Let children fill in the body with popped popcorn. ( Adapt to any white animal shape)
  2. Feed birds by stringing popcorn and cut up apples. Hang on a fence post for a backyard feast. Birds will use leftover string when building nests.
  3. Form holiday shapes (pumpkins, snowmen, etc.) from a mixture of warm popcorn and melted marshmallows. Work quickly with small batches to create desired form. Embellish with candy and other food decorations.

Kernel Seasons set us one of their Get The Party Popping packages. What a big box of yum! It contained several bottles of popcorn seasonings, a bag of premium popping corn, a bottle of Popcorn Spritzer and several bags of their microwave popcorn.

There are fourteen varieties of Kernel Season’s popcorn seasonings – White Cheddar, Butter, Nacho Cheddar, Caramel, Ranch, Parmesan & Garlic, Apple Cinnamon, Barbeque, Cajun, Chocolate Marshmallow, Jalapeno, Salt, Sour Cream & Onion and Kettle Corn. Seasonings range from 0-5 calories per serving each. They contain no MSG and contains 56 percent less sodium than other popcorn seasonings. They’re all natural blends and use real cheese. They’re certified Kosher cRc and all but two are gluten free (white cheddar and jalapeno). Kernel Seasons seasonings aren’t just for popcorn. They can be used on all sorts of foods including rice, potatoes, vegetables, pasta, fish, fruit and snacks. There are even recipes on the Kernel Seasons site.

One of Kernel Season’s newest products is their Premium Raw Kernel Popping Corn (suggested retail, $2.39 per one pound pouch). The popcorn is almost hull-less and popped up huge and fluffy every time we made it and left no kernels left in the pain. At 120 calories for five cups it’s very diet friendly.

If you’re on a diet or have ever been on one then you know it isn’t usually the food you eat that gets you into trouble, it’s what you have on or with the food. That’s where another of Kernel Season’s newest products comes in – Kernel Season’s Popcorn Spritzer (suggested retail, $2.79). The spritzer’s all natural butter flavor is made with a blend of canola, sunflower and corn oils with no calories and zero fat per serving. It’s very tasty by itself or with seasonings. TJ loves this stuff because he can spritz to his heart’s content to make popcorn like he gets at the movies (where he always puts extra butter on at the dispenser).

We also got to try Kernel Season’s Microwave Popcorn, the first time for us. We have tried a lot of microwave popcorns in this house. RB and I thought that the Kernel Season’s was of great quality and excellent flavor. We had a few kernels at the bottom but nothing excessive. The popcorn tasted buttery and we both thought that our hands didn’t seem as greasy after eating it like they do with most microwave popcorns.

Kernel Season’s Raw Kernel Popping Popcorn, Popcorn Spritzer and Seasonings are available at grocery stores across America and in other stores such as Wal-Mart and Blockbuster Video. You can also purchase it on their website at www.NoMoreNakedPopcorn.com.

Thanks again to Kernel Seasons for this wonderful and tasty opportunity!
