Healthy Kitchenware review and giveaway

We'd love it if you shared it!

I pack lunches for myself and my son CJ every day, and sometimes hubby too. Whatever I make usually gets packaged in plastic bags or containers. I accepted the opportunity to review the Healthy Kitchenware Stainless Lunch Carrier With Sauce Container because I feel it is important we all try to do more to be green.

From the website – “When Cynthia was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2005, she had never heard of the word. Her research pointed to the importance of nutrition and environment as the very important areas to monitor to fight this disease. When reading about endometriosis, Cynthia realized she had to change her lifestyle. She decided to get rid of all the plastic in her kitchen that came in contact with her food. This proved to be a big project, much easier said than done. The reason behind getting rid of the plastic is that plasticizers which make plastics malleable potentially leach hazardous chemicals onto food and drink. Some of these chemicals act like hormones in our body, which leads to disease. While looking to make this change by changing all her refrigerator containers to glass and all plastic coated pots and pans to stainless steel or enameled cast iron products, she realized there is no place that offers all the items required. This is how Healthy Kitchenware was born! We hope we can help you make this change in your lifestyle a little easier or simply offer you environmentally friendly products for their quality, beauty and simplicity.

The stainless lunch carrier is rectangularly shaped and measures 6.4″ long x 4.92″ wide x 2.32″ high. The carrier comes with a smaller stainless container that nests inside for storage. Both of the containers are dishwasher safe. The larger container has a stainless steel lid that closes with metal clasps. The smaller container has a plastic lid. The set is dishwasher safe.

The container is visually appealing. It is just the right size for packaging my son’s school lunch. CJ has Celiac disease so he can’t eat most of the foods that you and I can. It’s not unusual for him to have a cold lunch consisting of meats and vegetables. The stainless steel would help keep the food colder than plastic bags or containers. It will probably also wear better in the long run, and it won’t stain or get odors like plastic does. The large container by itself is big enough to hold a nice sized serving of food for an adult, such as pasta, rice, whatever you eat. I was able to fit a sandwich in it. The smaller container is great for holding salad dressing. In our house we like fruit cocktail and often buy the big can, which could be broken down into smaller servings and brought to school or work in the small container. It would also work for pudding or jello.

The stainless lunch carrier sells for $15.99. It’s available for purchase through the Healthy Kitchenware site. This is just right for anyone looking for a greener way to pack their own lunch or trying to limit the amount of contact their food has with plastic.

I like the fact that they look nice, and that there are no chemicals to leech into the food.

I like that it isn't plastic. I've been trying to use plastic less and less because of the chemicals that can leak into foods. I also love that it's a design my Husband wouldn't be embarassed to take to work.
