The wound vac arrived today. The box was absolutely huge, and I had to have the UPS guy help my older son bring it into the house. The nurse came out to put it on. First she unpacked the wound and cleaned it again. Then she cut this huge thick black sponge to sort of …

I went to the surgeon again today. His bedside manner was quite a bit friendlier. He said he is going to put me on the wound vac. (I was kind of glad, I really didn’t want to be staples up again.) I am still not allowed to pick anything up. This will put an end …
Well a nurse came early this morning to teach hubby how to do the wound packing and dressing. He looked at the wound and his face sort of twisted itself around and he said “I can’t, it’s more extensive than I thought”. This coming from someone who likes to watch horror movies. My father didn’t …
I went to the surgeon’s office today to have my staples removed. (There were 25 staples, I counted them.) As the nurse practioner finished taking them out she yelled “I need a doctor in here”. Not what you want to hear when you know you’re the only patient in the room. Apparently my entire wound …
Well I made it through my first day (and night) at home. I couldn’t get comfortable in the bed laying down. Hubby ended up propping every pillow we could find behind me so I was at an angle. I didn’t get a lot of sleep, and the sleep I got wasn’t great. I’m taking Percoset for …
Surgery went as expected on Monday. Apparently again I needed some extra time in recovery due to my reaction to anesthesia. Dr S said it all looks to be benign. I couldn’t eat at all on Monday. My nutty roommate was interesting to say the least and had cancer. The morphine button is my best …
This morning I went to the hospital and had a chest xray and some more labwork done. On the way home I stopped and got my oil changed. I got the call from the surgeon’s office. They were unable to get my surgery scheduled for Friday. It is instead scheduled for Monday, which means I …
I got in to see the oncologist today. They told me to come at 3pm. It was made clear they were squeezing me into a time slot that didn’t exist. It took well over 2 hours to be seen. This dr wants me in for an open surgery this Friday. I should be in the …
Tomorrow is the laparoscopic surgery. There is a chance it will have to be converted to open surgery, so they don’t risk spilling what they’re removing. Laparoscopic should be same day surgery, if they convert to open surgery I’d be admitted. No food or drink after midnight.
This afternoon I had the other half of my mouth root planed. A different dentist came in to give me the novacaine shots. He looked at my file and told the hygeniest he didn’t know enough about Hashimotos Thyroiditis and disappeared. He came back and gave me the shots. Again we waited for the numbness to set in …
Well I went to the sleep center at the local hospital last night for my second sleep study. The rooms were very similar to the place I went last time except it was obvious these used to be hospital rooms, and they were in a hospital. I got to talking a bit with the tech …
This afternoon I had half of my mouth root planed. The dentist gave a bunch of shots into the gums, all being rather uncomfortable. Then the hygeniest waited for the numbness to set in before beginning work. By the time she started working half of my face was numb, and I mean half as in left …
So the insurance caseworker finally called me back. She said I’m only getting the minimum amount allowed weekly. I told her I was sure that was wrong and what I’d made on the job. She said she’d need to verify it with the employer. I warned her if she got her this might not be …
Saw the doc today. He checked the hand. He says it’s healing nicely. I told him it’s still sensitive if I try to use it for too long and I can’t make it an entire day yet. I am tentatively going back to work the first week of July.
Well I went to the doctors today for my post-surgical follow-up. The asst. removed the stiches, which I must say hurt like a bitch. She recommended I still not get it wet for a while longer. It looks kinda nasty, but I think that’s because I can’t freaking wash my hand. I told her about …
Well I got an appt to do the baby’s central auditory processing test next week. And I found a neurologist that might be able to get my older son in before September like the dr we’re already scheduled with. He seems to be getting worse. I’ve decided to redo Hinderized. And maybe add a forum. …
Well, looks like surgery it shall be. I go back to the orthopedist in March so we can schedule the surgery on the right hand for May.
Well I went to the ortho and had another emg, this one in the right hand/arm. But this doctor put the needles in my neck this time too. I did not enjoy myself. I go to see the orthopedist next week to discuss.
It’s not even dinner time and all of a sudden I feel like crap. My ears and throat hurt, and I’m freezing. I’m heading for the couch and a heavy blanket.
So physical therapy had a copay per visit. It’d be over $200 a month. We can’t afford it. So I won’t be going.
I saw the orthopedist and had more xrays. He said that my miniscus may be torn or dmaaged or something, and that’s it’s a coincidence to the back problem he found. He prescribed a nsaid and physical therapy 3x a week.
I hate having to get a doctors referral. I resent having to pay for a doctor to tell me he has no idea what’s going on and to go see another doctor (dermatologist). Also, I have an acute upper respiratory infection.
