I went to the surgeon’s office for a fill today. My last fill was in June. No Doctor Hottie today but I’m fortunate in that they all have fabulous personalities. So the doctor checked the band and gave me a small fill. He then confirmed how much weight I’ve lost. Yes folks, it’s official. I’VE LOST MORE THAN 150 POUNDS!
I am down to 219 pounds, which is a total loss of 154 pounds. When I started this journey I set a goal of getting down to 200 pounds. My ultimate goal is actually 175 pounds but one step at a time. Anyway. I’m down to 219 pounds, which means my goal of 200 is in sight. I started this journey in size 3x and 4x shirts and pants. I can now fit into size L and XL tops, depending on the top. I’m now in size 16 jeans. I haven’t worn size 16 jeans since about the time I got married, which is 24 years! My body is in better shape now that the weight is off. This has been such an exciting journey and it’s so neat to know that it isn’t over yet.
A couple of months ago I attended a Lap band seminar that my surgeons were giving nearby. They asked me to answer some questions at the end, which I was happy to do. As I stood up at the front of the room between two talented and handsome doctors, I realized something. I’d hated speaking in public for years. I didn’t hate speaking in public that night with them. Why? I think it’s because I’d lost the weight. Back in the day as a teenager I was never one to shy away from crowds or speaking in groups. It was later that those uncomfortable feelings appeared. This surgery has given me back my life, including a few pieces I didn’t even know were missing. It’s been 17 months and I still maintain that this is the best decision I have ever made.

Your new found confidence might have been because of the subject. I cannot talk in front of a crowd but I can talk about carpet to people who come into our store. Way to go on all your hard work. It is good that you feel better too.

Thanks. It's more that I feel people are actually listening to what I have to say instead of staring at me thinking how fat I am.

That is great news.
Being overweight can definitely make a person feel less assured about themselves. I am glad you are feeling more secure and like your old self.
