2021 Holiday Gift Guide – Jabuka Word Game

We'd love it if you shared it!

I love games, particularly when they can be enjoyed by the whole family. Jabuka is a quick game that can be enjoyed by children and adults. The game doesn’t have cards or a board so it’s perfect for play at home and on the road. Aside from its creativeness and portability, what I like best is that Jabuka is a game where players can learn while they’re having fun, making it a great holiday gift. I received my own Jabuka game and think it’s exactly the type of game we could play with my oldest and my parents over the holiday break.

The creative aspect of Jabuka makes it ideal for spelling, vocabulary and creative thinking. Jabuka makes a great gift for kids and adults who like challenging and fun word games, anagrams, and brain teasers! It’s great for kids learning to spell and also for adults looking to improve their memory! Take a break from your usual board games, card games, or slow letter games.

“We had to change our strategy from slow-build specialty retail to a fast-paced direct-to-consumer demand,” Russocki said. “Maybe it’s because Jabuka can be played anywhere, anytime by multiple age ranges. It isn’t like Scrabble or Bananagrams, because, in its own way, Jabuka has its own alphabet and kids are getting a big kick out of learning to speak Jabuka.”

Learn to Speak Jabuka

The idea for JABUKA started in a coffee shop, when Russocki was fiddling with a coffee bean on the table. He looked around at the digitally detached people typing phonetic abbreviated texts. Pondering the deterioration of language skills, he scribbled his initial “M” on the coffee bean and spun it around. The “M” magically morphed into a “W” and then into an “E”. Russocki immediately began to invent a multipurpose new alphabet. Because the coffee bean was a good fit to spin the letters, the theme stuck. No more boring square tiles, no turn-taking, and no board needed. JABUKA arrives in a sack as a fast, portable game with simple scoring. Players spill the beans and start a battle of words (official rules at www.jabukagames.com). The clever word scrambles and added letters are endless when:

  • “c” is “u” and/or “n”
  • “r” can be “j”
  • “t” is also “x”
  • “m” is “w” and/or “E”
  • and more.
