When you’re traeling in the car how do you keep an eye on your baby? How do you know your baby is sleeping soundly, or why they are so quiet? When my boys were young I wondered all the time. So to be sure they were safe I’d literally half lift my butt off of the seat so that I could turn around and see what was going on in the back seat. It wasn’t the most comfortable thing to do, and it certainly wasn’t the safest.

Infanttech’s Always In View, a baby monitor for cars, makes it much easier and much safer to see what’s going on and be sure that your baby is safe. The Always In View is a wireless, video baby monitor for the car. There’s a camera installed in an adorable plush animal that wraps around the back headrest. Live footage of your baby is then transmitted to a monitor placed on the front windshield. I asked contributing editor Lara to check it out for me, since she’s a Mom of six and could definitely use a hand in knowing what’s going on in the two rows of kids behind her. Here’s her thoughts.

We were very excited to review the Always in View Camera. We have always used those mirrors that move, fall off, get broken, or are a pain to look at through the rearview mirror. This was a nice change. The camera is in the nose of a very cute blue dog. The monitor is a little smaller than a GPS monitor and they speak to each other wirelessly. We had to charge both the monitor and camera before we could use it if not you can still use them while they are charging but then you will have wires throughout the car. When we set up the camera and monitor, BG started talking, baby babble, to his new friend the blue dog. The monitor had great reception, it has volume control, and night vision. We drove to stores with it and noticed that we needed to shut off the camera and the monitor separately which can be a bit time consuming and inconvenient. We also noticed over time that the battery life degraded slightly. Overall we love the concept, it would greatly benefit from a power link between the monitor and camera or even a remote.

The Always In View Baby Monitor retails for $199.99 and you can purchase online at www.infanttech.com. It would make a terrific gift for any expectant parent.
Did you worry about not being able to see your child easily while they were an infant in the back seat?

So much better than crooking your neck around while driving.

I think this is great. There were times when I pulled over because I wanted to make sure that all was ok.

this is awesome and saves you from having to look back...thus less prone to accidents.

What a neat tool that would have made my life so much simpler! We used the mirrors and they were better than nothing but certainly not ideal! I love how this comes in a cute little stuffed puppy!
