State Farm Neighborhood Assist

Do you have the desire to do something to improve the community you live in? Maybe building or modifying a park in order to make it accessible to all? Or maybe there’s a cause you’d like to support close to home, such as helping homeless vets. If you have a clear vision on how to make a difference, now is the time to speak up. The State Farm Neighborhood Assist program might be able to help your vision come to life.

2015 marks the fourth year that the program will be run. In the initial phase of the program individuals are asked to identify causes that would help make their communities safer, stronger and better-educated. Anyone in the United States can submit a cause beginning March 9 through March 30. Up to 4,000 causes will be accepted. In the next phase, the State Farm Youth Advisory Board (YAB) will narrow down the field to the top 200 submissions. Once the top 200 have been identified people like you and I will have a chance to vote. From May 14 through June 3, people will be able to vote for their favorite cause up to 10 times a day. In the end, the 40 causes that receive the most votes will win a $25,000 grant. The nominations and votes will be accepted exclusively through a free Facebook app.

Since the program began, State Farm has awarded $3 million to 120 communities across North America, supporting a wide variety of causes, including fighting childhood hunger, helping homeless veterans, revitalizing parks, improving literacy and offering athletic programs for children with disabilities.

“State Farm Neighborhood Assist helps individuals be the face of change in their communities,” said Kellie Clapper, State Farm Assistant Vice President. “From identifying an important cause to rallying your community to vote for it, this program is all about neighbors helping neighbors.”

Once again, the key dates for the program are

  • March 9 – March 29: Submit causes, exclusively through Facebook
  • March 30 – May 13: YAB identifies top 200 finalists
  • May 14 – June 3: Vote for causes, exclusively through Facebook
  • June 16: State Farm announces winners

State Farm has been treating me right since 1976! Yep, the only auto-insurance I've ever had. I'm secure with them and will forever be grateful.

Strangely my idea would be simple. Our kids don't have sidewalks to walk home from school on. They walk instead on a shoulder of a busy road. I would love to make their trips how safer.

I would absolutely love to submit a couple ideas to State Farm. One of them is a Summer breakfast program for the Native kids here. A lot of them don't get breakfast or other substantial meals in the summer. Thanks for the information!
