I have struggled with hunger and snacking, and food in general, for a long time. Most of my adult life, in fact. If you’ve read my blog long enough, then you may recall that I had Lap band surgery. The band had to be surgically removed, and eventually I had gastric sleeve surgery. I’m still hungry. I’ve gained some weight, more than I wanted to and more than I should have. It’s a contributing factor to the depression I have been battling. So, one of the goals I set for myself for 2017 to try and do better with managing my snacking.

There’s a fun quiz on POPSUGAR that tries to determine what type of snacker you are. I took the quiz and it determined that I am a “Breakroom Binger”. What’s that, you ask? Here’s the description.

At first I thought the quiz couldn’t be right. But when I thought about it honestly, I had to admit that it was. I frequently start out with good intentions. Low calorie snacks. Portion controlled amounts. But somehow it all goes downhill. Not only do I eat when I’m hungry, I also eat when I am stressed. So, I decided to incorporate the quiz results into my goal for 2017. Here’s how I’m doing that.

I’m starting with the mind. When I feel hungry I am taking a minute to breathe (literally, using an app on the watch my parents gave me for Christmas). During that minute I try to clear my mind of whatever it is that is stressing me out and making me forage for food like a hungry bear in the woods. After a minute of just breathing and clearing my mind I consider if I am truly hungry.

If I am hungry, I am trying to turn to different alternatives. Enter Meta Appetite Control.

Meta Appetite Control is a fiber supplement from the makers of Metamucil. It contains 100% natural psyllium. It contains the perfect combination of water and fiber to increase your daily intake of both; it helps you feel less hungry with fewer calories; and it works naturally with your body to help suppress your appetite between meals. *If taken prior to a meal, it can help you control appetite for up to 4 hours. *

Meta Appetite Control is currently available in three varieties – Orange Zest, Pink Lemonade and Unflavored Smoothie Enhancer. I received a full size sample of the Unflavored Smoothie Enhancer. The product is super easy to use. All you do is add two teaspoons to cold water or another cold liquid. The fiber forms a gel and slows absorption and digestion so you feel less hungry between meals.* It’s very easy for me to add it to many things, helping me turn something I lean on as a snack or drink into something that helps me fight the urge to snack. My favorite way to use it is with tomato juice. Just add 2 teaspoons of Meta Appetite Control Unflavored Smoothie Enhancer to at least 8 ounces of cold tomato juice and stir well.

I have never heard of the Meta line before. Anything that keeps your appetite under control sounds incredibly helpful.

I eat a lot when I am stressed and tensed. I used to do that so-called stress eating. When PMS strikes to I tend to crave for more food.

I love Meta products. I have found one that doesn't work yet. I especially love the appetite controller.
