My Opinion Only:

I fell in love with The Lion King when I saw The Lion King Celebration in Disneyland during the holidays in the late 90’s. Its dancers, puppeteers, acrobats, and musicians made it the best Disney parade for me anywhere ever. I rejoice that its legendary tradition continues with Disney Junior. Animation is simple, bright, colorful, yet reminiscent of the original movie Lion King’s beauty and look. Kids ages 2-7 need heroes. Don’t we all? Kids need positive messages and solid role models NOT violence and scariness. Its heroes fierce, brave, strong, speedy, keen of sight are far better role models than most action ones.

When kindergarten grandson recently came by to visit, I realized just how big a Lionguard fan he was. He couldn’t stop telling me about the animals, names, markings, purpose and how they were the best of the best before he politely asked me who was getting the Life in the Pride Lands DVD. Hm… no wonder Disney Junior has committed to more Lionguard episodes of the Lionguard, a superhuman team.
