REVIEW – One Creepy Street: The Spider On The Web

The Spider on the Web is the 2nd book by author Lee Jordan, in his series “One Creepy Street”. His first book, “Annica’s Broom” covered the serious and dangerous texting while driving.

The Spider on the Web is a book about the dangers for children and teenagers while on the web. When kids play online gaming, participate in a chat room, accept friend requests on Facebook (without knowing the person), they are opening themselves up to being a victim online. They give out way too much information on their Twitter pages, Instagram, Pinterest (sometimes), Snap Chat…. Yes the list goes on and on. They don’t think a person can find them because the web is SO big. Although that is true, there are also the ‘locals’ that may disguise as a kid in a different state to lure a kid in.

In this book Annica (the 13-year-old spider) is deceived by an online “predator”. With beautiful illustrations and an easy-to-read story, this book is sure to help get the message across about online deception.

We teach our children to not talk to strangers offline, it is also a great idea to teach the same for online. I know this book will be kept in a safe place for when my grandchildren get older so I can share with them the dangers that lurk online.
