Performance Paves The Way For New Ford Models Announced At #FordNAIAS 2015

We'd love it if you shared it!

I attended the 2015 NAIAS as a guest of Ford. I have not received any compensation for this post. Please note that, as always, any personal opinions reflected in this post are my own.

I’ve already shared two of the experiences I had while in Detroit last month –  touring both the Ford Piquette Plant and the Ford Dearborn Truck Plant. Today I’m going to share something else with you – the new models that were announced at NAIAS. The Ford press conference was held in the Joe Louis Arena. Ford President Bill Ford, Ford Group Vice President Raj Nair, and Ford CEO Mark Fields were all present for the unveiling of three exciting new models during the press conference in the arena. These models are just the beginning of Ford’s push to go further, as another dozen or more vehicles are slated to be released between now and the year 2020. The focus for all models moving forward is safety, comfort and connectivity.

The first unveiling that we saw was that of the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor.

Now it had been announced earlier that morning that the Ford F150 had won the Truck Of The Year award. Seeing this unveiling was taking something great and moving it to a whole new level of greatness. The F150 Raptor model is a very sexy and bad-ass looking truck. It’s lighter then the previous model by about 500 pounds, which will mean drivers get better gas mileage, handling and performance.

Next up was the unveiling of the 2016 Ford Shelby GT350R.

I’ve mentioned before that I have a love for Mustangs. This car took my breath away. Literally. When I saw it I gasped. It’s all of the beautiful and powerful things that I expect from a Mustang and more. It will have a 500-horsepower 5.2 liter V8 engine. This will also mark the first time that an auto maker makes carbon fiber wheels standard on a model, which is part of what makes the GT350R so lightweight.

After the GT350R was unveiled we watched on the big screen what it would be like if the GT350R was modified even further, making us contemplate cars of the future. A sleek, gorgeous futuristic blue model appeared on the screen, gathering quite a reaction. The image on the screen was followed by a powerful and downright sexy rumble.

Which signified the unveiling of the new Ford GT. This car quite simply takes your breath away. It is very real and it will also be available next year.

My Dad bought a 14 F250. I attended a local launch event for the 15 F150 and it's just about as big and has some awesome new features. I'll be playing with one very soon so watch for a post about it.
