The Newest Hidden Object Games From G5 In Mac App Store

Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been checking out games that were recently added to the Mac App Store from G5 Entertainment. I wanted to share them with you. I’ll start with the most recent, which was just added yesterday.

Tales from the Dragon Mountain: the Lair

When I first heard about the new game Tales from the Dragon Mountain: the Lair I thought it was a typical hidden object game (which is one of my favorite types of computer games). It didn’t take long to discover that it sort of is and sort of isn’t.
The sequel to the beloved Tales from the Dragon Mountain – Tales from the Dragon Mountain: the Lair comes to Mac on July 3rd. The new adventure features polished graphics, more complex puzzles, pleasant voice acting and a really engrossing plot. It’s an entertaining gaming experience with a variety of engaging tasks.
Follow Mina once again to find the lair of the evil spirit called Strix in this captivating sequel to the beloved hidden object adventure!
It has been years since brave Mina Lockheart defeated Lord Strix. But dark shadows are rising once again, and restless mythical creatures beseech Mina’s protection! Join Mina and her best friend Malik in their dangerous trip to turn up clues and locate Lord Strix’s lair. Meet different creatures along your journey, help them and have them help you. Hurry! Lord Strix and his ruthless army are getting stronger every minute!

You do have to find hidden objects in the game, but you don’t get a list of the things you have to find as you do in a traditional hidden object game. Here you follow along with a story. You have to pay attention to the story and what’s on screen to find the clues to find the objects you need to progress. You can’t progress past certain points if you haven’t found certain objects.
There are stone dragons hidden throughout the game. If you find them all (which I haven’t yet) additional things will be unlocked.

While you are playing you will find many different items. Some things, like letters or maps, stay in a book that’s always accessible to you. The rest all get stored at the bottom of your screen until you get to the place where you need them. You will frequently come across places where you need to combine several items in order to make something that will unlock something else you need.

Once you find other objects, such as these stones, you need to put them in the right place in order to open other areas of the game. If you don’t you can’t finish the game.

Then there are the mini-games and puzzles. There are a lot of them!

Some of them are really hard!  If you can’t finish one you are able to skip over it but you don’t get full benefit that way. Unfortunately there were a couple I was not able to solve.


Once you reach a certain point near the end of the game you have to refer to your book in order to solve another puzzle that looks like this.

After you do you’ll have to beat the bad guy.

I was able to beat the game in 1 day. I wasn’t able to find everything, and as mentioned I wasn’t able to solve all of the puzzles. If you’re into games with a storyline and puzzles you’ll probably love this one.

The Island Castaway 2

The Island Castaway 2 is not a hidden object game at all, it’s a simulation game.
The much-anticipated sequel to the vibrant simulation game The Island: Castaway is here! Embark on an unbelievable adventure that will change the life of the island’s tribe. Mystery Of The Opera

Yes, this one is a hidden object game!
Prove that true love can overcome any obstacle in this mesmerizing adventure!
Opera diva Christine has been kidnapped by a stranger in a dark cloak on the eve of her successful debut! Her desperate but nonetheless determined fiancé must leave no stone unturned to rescue her. An old props man at the theater has told him about the black magic involved and given him a powerful amulet to help him locate Christine. Remove spells using the amulet and interrogate a dethroned diva, a cunning impresario and a photographer who witnessed the mysterious disappearance. Search the abandoned dungeon beneath the theater and help doomed ghosts find eternal rest so that this loving couple can be reunited!

9 Clues: The Secret of Serpent Creek is yet another hidden object game.
Save your best friend and an entire 1950s town from a terrifying threat!
Your dearest friend, the journalist Helen Hunter, traveled to the coastal town of Serpent Creek to report on the Serpent Festival. Now she’s missing, and the last phone call she made was to you. As a paranormal private investigator, Helen wanted you to weigh in on some frightening things she’d discovered. She asked you to come immediately.
The first thing you see upon arriving in Serpent Creek is a humanoid, snake-like creature. Clearly, Helen’s fears were not groundless.
