Dinner for one can be a lonely, tasteless prospect. But when dinner (or lunch, breakfast, or a snack, for that matter) is made in a mug, it suddenly becomes a whole lot more fun. From blueberry muffins and quiches to mac ‘n cheese and chocolate peanut butter cake, Mug It contains simple, delicious, recipes for every taste and craving. Easy-to-follow recipes and four-color photographs make Mug It the perfect cookbook for nearly anyone who has a mug, a microwave, and an appetite.

Pam McElroy is an editor and caterer living in San Francisco, California. She edits books of all genres and caters under the name Meatball Maven. She has also been involved in the food industry since she was a teen–in restaurant kitchens, as a caterer, and as an editor for dining magazines. She is the author of Mug It and the co-editor of The Green Teen Cookbook with Zest Books. Her hobbies include reading cookbooks cover-to-cover, shopping at farmers markets, and cooking epic and seasonal meals for friends and family.

This cookbook is full of quick and easy recipes, all made in mugs.I’ve made a number of things in mugs and find them to be pretty quick and easy to make, and perfect for a solo meal.

Chapters include:

  • Mason Jar Salads
  • Mason Jar Breakfasts
  • Overnight Oats
  • Mason Jar Pickling
  • Dips In A Mug
  • Breads and Muffins In A Mug
  • Eggs In A Mug
  • Hearty Dinner In A Large Mug
  • Cookies In A Mug
  • Cupcakes In Oversize Mugs
  • Decadent Desserts In A Mug

All of the ingredients are items you’ll find either in your kitchen or in your grocery store. Instructions are well written and easy to follow. There are lots of great color photos in this cookbook, almost every two page spread has at least one. As far as cooking time goes, it’s hidden inside the recipes instead of being listed separately at the top, so you have to read to figure out how long it takes to make. With most of the meals being relatively quick, and something made for one person, I feel the cookbook would be even more useful if the cooking time were highlighted on its own. This cookbook would be great for folks who make meals for one and want to add some new things to their menu, as well as those who are on the go, and those who want/need to keep the use of pots and pans down.

I have always wanted to make a cake in a mug. I think it would fun to put all the dry ingredients in and give it as a gift as well.

I have made a couple of desserts in a mug before. This sounds like a great cook book, I love the mug recipes I have done before.

Okay - that is an ADORABLE idea for a book. I have done eggs in mugs before, but never some of these other options! I actually was going to try doing pasta in a mug!

I love making meals in Mason jars. It's fun and a great way to reuse them.
