You may recall that a couple of weeks ago I mentioned that some Walmart stores around the country were holding a gluten-free event. The events were to let people know that Walmart is now carrying an increased number of gluten-free foods. Some of the gluten-free products you can now find at Walmart include:
- Quaker Popped Rice Snacks
- Udi’s pizza, breads, and burritos
- Glutino cookies and crackers
- Van’s cereals and waffles

I picked up a variety of the Quaker Popped Rice Snacks, including Creamy Ranch, Cheddar Cheese and Apple Cinnamon. Popped also comes in BBQ, Caramel Corn, Chocolate, Kettle Corn, Sea Salt and Cracked Black Pepper, and Sour Cream and Onion varieties. Since then we have been happily and safely munching away on these crispy, crunchy and yummy snacks.
Quaker Popped are very flavorful all on their own. But, we are a family of dippers. We like to dip. Unfortunately, not all dips are gluten-free. So I decided to see what I could come up with that would be half of the perfect pair, paired with Popped of course. I found success on my third attempt. This easy-to-make gluten-free homemade dip recipe pairs perfectly with Quaker Popped. The Bacon Cheddar Tomato Dip Recipe is thick enough that it just goes perfectly with the thick and crunchy rice snack. Together they’re the perfect pair!!
Here’s how I made it.
Ingredients
- 8 oz Philadelphia cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup tomato, diced
- 1/4 shredded bacon (I used Hormel Real)
- 1/4 shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
Soften the cream cheese. I did this by microwaving it on half power for 3 minutes. The cream cheese should be soft and creamy but not liquid or runny.
Add the bacon and stir well.
Add the shredded cheddar and stir well
Add the diced tomato and stir well.
Serve warm, at room temp or slightly chilled. The dip does not work cold because it thickens due to its having a cream cheese base. If you refrigerate it for storage microwave on low power slowly until it’s soft again.

Visit the Walmart Gluten-free For Less page to find out more about the variety of gluten-free products they’re now offering.
Which Quaker Popped flavor would you most enjoy dipping?

The dip looks delicious and I love the fact that it is gluten free. My favourite flavour of the crackers would be caramel corn.
