Wordless Wednesday – What's Happened To The Danish

We'd love it if you shared it!

I have always enjoyed a good danish, particularly cheese or apple. When I was young danish would actually have fruit or cheese inside, it’d be loaded. Fort some time now I’ve noticed there’s almost no filling used at all anymore. This is the inside of a cheese danish I bought at Atlanta Bread Company last week. So disappointing! I want to start making my own.

I have noticed the same thing in various items that are supposed to have fruit filling. Can you say " false advertising ", boys and girls?

We have noticed the same thing. It is totally disappointing that there is hardly any filling left. Cinnamon filling: just a thin line. Cheese filling: seems more like jello now. Apple filling: we can't seem to find anything with an apple filling anymore. Every now and then, the hubby will make real danish pastry and add his own fillings.

OMG, the apple - no kidding! My Dad and I love apple fritters. We haven't seen an apple fritter around here in over a year that had any apples! I'm going to take a crack at making my own.

Luck of the draw or cost cutting--either way disappointing I'd bet and not too tasty.

Not luck of the draw because it's everywhere. Atlanta Bread, Dunkin Donuts, you name it they're all this way now.
