I spent more than ten years in computer sales. At that time I was taught to put anything of value on a surge protector. It’s a rule that I paid attention to and follow to this day, which is why I agreed to check out a sample of the Belkin Conserve Smart AV Surge Protector.

ABOUT THE BELKIN CONSERVE SMART AV SURGE PROTECTOR
Did you know the standby power consumed by your entertainment system when it’s not in use is costing you an estimated $76 a year*? Entertainment systems are typically the biggest energy drains in the house, consuming energy 24/7. Control power to your whole entertainment system with the push of a button—your TV’s power button. Turn off DVD players, VCRs, gaming consoles, receivers, subwoofers and other equipment automatically when you turn off your TV.
MY THOUGHTS
The Conserve Smart AV Surge Protector is sturdy and solid. It actually has a little weight to it, unlike the $5 surge protectors you can find in bargain stores. I love the power saving feature, to use it all you do is plug up to five components into the surge protector, and plug your television into the green master outlet. All five components will shut off autmatically when your television is turned off.The remaining two outlets can be used for components that you want to always have power, like DVRs so you don’t miss your scheduled recordings. My hubby is into AV and his home stereo and television system. He was impressed by this product and actually wants to try using it on a guitar setup that he’s got.
The Belkin Conserve Smart AV Surge Protector retails for $29.99.
