5 Holiday Survival Tips for Busy Moms

We'd love it if you shared it!

Do the holidays stress you out? Maybe one (or all) of these tips in this guest post will help you regain a little bit of peace.

Fireplace Mug

The holiday season is upon us — it won’t be long until we are drinking eggnog by the fireplace and unwrapping gifts. Christmas, a holiday that can best be described as awe-inspiring (for children anyway), often times brings panic and distress for adults. From the never-ending list of errands and holiday parties to the stress of holiday travel and forced smiles at the in-laws house…No matter which way you look at it, the holidays can be a stressful occasion.

The following tips are designed to lighten the load for Mom. So go ahead, grab a mug of hot chocolate and enjoy some time with family.

1.) HoneyDo iPhone App – Huffington Post called it the “marriage saver app”. HoneyDo is iTunes first and only shared to-do app – kind of like a CRM for families. Tackle everything from Christmas shopping to grocery lists, without nagging – now that is efficiency. HoneyDo is available in iTunes for $4.99.

2.) Santa Mega Pack iPhone App – This App is simply brilliant. The App is meant to promote angelic behavior and eliminate unruly behavior by dialing into the North Pole. Parents can also send the kids Christmas lists to relatives with the click of a button. Kids love the educational puzzles, mazes, stories and coloring books during long car trips. Santa Mega Pack is $1.99 in iTunes.

3.) Dinner of the Month Club – For those nights where the day got away from you, there is nothing in the fridge and you can’t bear the thought of Chinese food. Dinner of the month club will send you a complete, gourmet Italian meal for the family. A three-month membership is a modest $71.85. Four, six and 12 month memberships are also available.

4.) Hire an hourly “Personal Assistant” – Spend time doing stuff you want to do, give the minutiae to someone else. An hourly personal assistant will gladly handle your Christmas shopping, grocery shopping — they can even help with holiday travel arrangements. Find a qualified helper at Care.com.

5.) PhoneTag.com – This website is a must-have for Mom’s on the go. It’s a service that transcribes phone messages, which are then sent to an e-mail account. Because your phone messages are transcribed entirely, you can discretely check voicemail via smart phone while standing in line, long meetings, etc.
