I made deviled eggs again for Easter this year. I decided that I wanted to brighten things up a bit and make the eggs pretty pastel colors. I was very pleased with how they turned out, even though my pastel colors were a bit on the darker side. Here’s how I made them.
How To Make Pastel Deviled Eggs
- 12 eggs
- yellow mustard
- food coloring
Make your hard boiled eggs.
Peel your hard boiled eggs.
Cut the eggs in half, placing the cooked yolk into a bowl to make your deviled egg filling.
Make your dye, using one coffee cup for each color you want to do. I used McCormick food coloring and followed the instructions on the package to make blue, green, rose and orange.
Place each egg half into the colored water. It will be colored after about 15 seconds. If you want a deeper color leave it in a bit longer.
As you remove your eggs try to let excess water drip off. Place the eggs onto a plate.
Make your deviled egg filling however you like. I mix my egg yolks with mayonnaise and yellow mustard and then sprinkle paprika on the top.
You can serve right away but they’re usually a tad warm so I prefer to refrigerate for at least an hour before serving.
