I love Kohl’s. I’ve written about them several times on Mom Knows It All. As I’ve mentioned in the past over there, one of the things I love about Kohl’s is that they have everything. And that includes a pretty large housewares department full of all sorts of cooking utensils, tools, appliances and much, much more. I can easily spend an hour wandering through the aisles thinking of what nifty thing I want next and what I’m going to make with it.
I recently learned about the Kohl’s Food Network Sweepstakes. Kohl’s is asking people to find and unleash their inner foodie. Each week through January 5, 2014, Kohl’s has a weekly topic. You can enter the sweepstakes by responding appropriately on Twitter or Instagram, using the hashtag #CookWithKohls. How simple is that!
Inspired by the contest, I decided to create a fun cake that combined several of my favorite flavors. The result is my Easy Oreo Truffle Filled Bundt Cake Recipe. This cake is so easy to make, and it’s so moist and yummy. Here’s how to make it.
EASY OREO TRUFFLE FILLED BUNDT CAKE
- 1x box French Vanilla cake mix
- whatever ingredients your cake mix calls for (such as water, eggs, and vegetable oil)
- 4 Oreos (crushed)
- 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 4 Oreos (crushed)
- 1/8 tsp Vann’s vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- @ 1 tbsp milk
Preheat the oven to 350f. (Or whatever the instructions on the cake box call for.)
Spray your pan with nonstick cooking spray. I used a Food Network Nonstick Fluted Mold.
Crush 4 Oreos. (I put them into a baggie and use my meat tenderizer.)
Prepare the cake mix according to the instructions on the box. Add the 4 crushed Oreos into the cake mix and stir well.
Place 1/3 to 1/2 of your cake mix into the bundt pan. Keep in mind what you put on the bottom now is what will end up towards the top when the cake is done.
Time to make the Oreo truffle filling.
Crush an additional 6 Oreos.
In a small to medium sized bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, the vanilla and the 6 crushed Oreos and mix well.
Spoon the Oreo truffle filling mixture into a ring around the pan, over the cake mix. The recipe you are reading is for the cake shown in this recipe. Next time I make this cake I will be doubling the Oreo truffle filling.
Put the remaining cake mix over top of the Oreo truffle filling.
Bake according to the instructions on the cake mix box. For me this was 30 minutes.
Remove from oven.
Wait about 10 minutes and then turn the bundt pan over and remove the cake, placing it onto a plate.
Time to put some icing on!
Put a cup of chocolate chips into a small glass bowl or even a cup with about a tablespoon of milk. You’re going to microwave that until the chocolate is a smooth liquid. It should take a little under a minute to a minute. I checked mine after 30 seconds and then again after another 15 seconds and that’s when mine was ready. Stir it really well.
Drizzle or pour the icing over the cake.
The cake is now ready to serve.
This is what it will look like on the inside after slicing a piece. Remember, I will be doubling the truffle filling next time so that there is more of it. You don’t have to, it’s very moist and tasty this way so it’s entirely up to you.
