Banana bread is so yummy. There have been a couple of times in the past where I put cream cheese on my banana bread, so it only make sense to make it with the cream cheese inside. This simple recipe makes 2 loaves.

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 4 medium bananas
  • 8oz cream cheese, softened
  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat oven to 350 F.

In a large bowl, beat butter and cream cheese at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy. Gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating just until combined. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; gradually add to butter mixture, beating at low speed just until blended. Stir in bananas, pecans and vanilla.

Bake for about 60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Cool pans on wire racks for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and place onto plate or serving dish.

Serve as you wish, immediately if you like it slightly warm like I do, or after sitting another 10 minutes for a cooler bread.

Double darn and blast it all! We just made banana cream pie with our bananas. I would have liked to have tried this. Well, that just means one thing. I have to go out and get more bananas!

Just curious – you mention salt in the mixing but not the ingredients – how much salt should I use for this?

Wow this sounds amazing. I have nerve put cream cheese in banana bread before. I bet it gives it a little moisture and a nice taste. I have made banana bread with vanilla yogurt in it. Only problem is it seems to moist to me. I can’t wait to try your recipe. Thanks!

Great banana bread, except the recipe does not show how long to cook, how much salt and pecans to use! And how to put the bananas in… sliced, mashed??

I don’t use nuts. The bananas were room temp, broken into two or three large pieces. I apologize, must find my notes and check the salt.
