I stopped in Sam’s recently. I don’t get my eggs there, so I’d never noticed how they package their eggs. They don’t put their bulk eggs in complete cartons, they only use the bottom part of the carton. I need a whole carton, things are always getting knocked around my fridge and no top on the carton would only lead to broken and wasted eggs in our case. How many eggs do you buy at a time? I usually buy 2 dozen at a time, or sometimes 2x 18 packs. But they’re always in full cartons.

How many depends on occasion–Easter, entertaining, baking. I too prefer whole cartons; hoowever, a big plastic container is my solution when I buy in bulk at the wholesalers. But I usually buy local at a local egg pproducer. At one time Ocean County was big until egg farming moved on out towards Martyland.

I am used to the half carton like packaging! I guess I group navigating the fridge carefully that way and am comfortable with it now 🙂

I usually buy them as two flats – five dozen at a time. I sometimes get them at Sam’s, too. They pack the 18pack eggs in boxes here on the west coast with the lids.

I usually buy 3 or 4 dozen at a time if I can get them on sale for 99 cents a dozen. I always buy them in full cartons. The carton without a top looks a little dicey to me. Wonder how many eggs they lose from breakage?

These cartons without tops look to me like an omelette accident in the making!
