I live at the Jersey shore, which means there’s a fair amount of water in my area. Unfortunately, sometimes water means mosquitoes. The mosquitoes were so bad at one point that my parents bought a bug zapper for our back deck. To this day I have very clear memories of it. In my mind I can see it clear as day, hanging there next to the bbq grill, emitting an annoying light and alternating between a humming noise and sharp, loud crackling noises when a bug flew into it. Everyone hated that it was right there on the deck but if it wasn’t it didn’t work. When offered the opportunity to check out the Stinger 3-in-1 Insect Zapper I had to accept out of pure curiosity, as well as the desire to not be bug bitten.

The Stinger 3-in-1 Insect Zapper features a black UV light that attracts and kills 40% more insects such as mosquitoes, moths, flies, beetles and more than UVA white light bulbs. It also features a NOsquito® Octenol lure to attract insects and mosquitoes to the unit. There is also a clog-free kill grid that facilitates whole yard coverage, being ideal for large yards of up to 1.5 acres in size.

The unit requires no assembly and is very easy to use. The unit itself is made of durable, weather-proof plastic. To “install” the unit, simply hang it up in the yard using the nylon hanging cord (included) and plug it in. It is recommended that the unit not be hung near the area where you sit or relax, rather it’s suggested you hang it further away in order to draw the bugs away. Both the bulb and the NOsquito® Octenol are easy to replace. While the unit has 5,500 volts of zapping power, it’s safe to hang in the vicinity of children, pets, birds and wildlife because it has an outer enclosure that prohibits contact with the electric grid. You can leave the Stinger on all of the time or you choose to use its Sundown Sensor option for energy efficient operation that will automatically turn the unit on at dusk and off at dawn.

Summer is a lot more enjoyable without little winged creatures bugging us. Using the Stinger is a lot more convenient than using bug spray, which wears off and doesn’t always smell good – if you remember to put it on. It’s a lot safer than candles, which always weird me out because I’m nervous someone will bump one and accidentally knock it over starting a fire. I don’t miss the awful itch that accompanies a mosquito bite at all. I don’t miss having to cut an enjoyable evening short because I’m getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. And best of all, the Stinger is really quiet. Were it not for the gentle purple glow you might not even know it was on. Pick up a Stinger for your yard and go back to enjoying your favorite summer activities.

Daughter-in-law keeps suggesting we invest in another zapper. First one worked great but the more humane ones that followed didn’t seem to work at all.

The bugs are bad around here this year. Really been considering one of these – going to check it out!

My parents live on a farm, not only are the wood-ticks bad this year but the mosquitoes are horrible. This would be perfect to have near the deck.

We just got something similiar and like that it doesn’t affect the bees. Thanks for the introduction to this one.

This is great! I can never sit on the back porch and relax without the bugs attacking me!

I must have this for our yard! I HATE mosquitos and other flying pests. This could really help keep that in check in our yard.
