Spring is here, bringing with it longer days and nicer weather. I am seeing more and more parents out for walks with their children in strollers. Folks are walking and running around the neighborhood again, both early in the morning and late in the evening. I myself decided that I want to start bicycling. For myself and many others, one of the big questions about fitness is when. When in our busy lifestyles can we fit it in?
Those of us with busy lifestyles know the answer to this question, of course. The answer is whenever we can. Before sunrise, after dusk, whenever we can find a time slot. For me personally, I am not thrilled about the idea of being being out for a period of time alone in the dark. having some light is just safer for many reasons. But, flashlights aren’t always the easiest thing to carry around, particularly if you’re on a bike or pushing a stroller. RunLites, on the other hand, are perfect for those times.
RunLites, invented by runner and working mother of three Mary Tiffin, are a new wearable technology solution that replaces inefficient and/or uncomfortable flashlights, head lamps, and clip-on lights. RunLites are dry-wick gloves have small pockets on the top side that hold small lights. To use RunLights, the wearer simply turns the lights on by pressing a button and closes the pocket. The lights then shine wherever the wearer directs their hand.
RunLites gloves are the perfect accessory for occasions including:
- Exercising including running, walking and cycling
- Getting the mail
- Taking the trash out
- Unloading groceries
- Walking guests to their car
- Walking the dog
- Walking the kids to the bus stop
I received two pair of RunLites Active half-length gloves, one pair in pink and one in navy. Available in sizes small, medium and large, the gloves are very light and portable. I have large hands. I used the size chart on the RunLites website to determine which size I would need. My hand measured 9 inches, which according to the chart was the border between size Medium and size Large. The size chart does mention that the gloves run small and to order one size up. I received the gloves in size large. They are very, very tight on my hands, almost to the point of discomfort and where I can’t bend my fingers. I now know that I need at least a size XL. The small lights are surprisingly bright, and I found them to be very helpful outside in the dark.
You can purchase RunLite gloves online. The half-length gloves are available for $34.99 and the full-length gloves are $39.99. They are a great gift idea for anyone.
