My son has Celiac disease, which is an intolerance to gluten. Gluten is in so many foods. When he was first diagnosed there weren’t a ton of pre-made or ready to eat products out there. Fortunately over the years, some companies have started specializing in gluten-free foods, such as Udi’s Gluten Free Foods.

I received samples of Udi’s Gluten-free Bagels in Plain and Cinnamon Raison varieties. My son’s favorite bread product, possibly his favorite food of all, is a bagel. Admittedly, we’ve always bought another brand of frozen gluten-free bagel, simply because they are more economical. This was the first time we’d tried Udi’s bagels.
The texture was slightly different then the brand we usually get, actually it’s a bit softer and I found to be similar to the texture of a fresh hard roll. We’ve always found that gluten-free bagels get hard pretty quick, these stayed a little softer then the ones we’ve been getting. My son has really enjoyed these and gobbles them up. We’d not tried cinnamon raisin bagels before and he really likes these a lot. The odd thing about these bagels is that there are no instructions whatsoever on the bag. My son likes to eat his bagels like donuts, so we microwave one frozen bagel for about 50 seconds and it’s fresh, warm and soft and just right for him.
I also received samples of Udi’s Muffins in the Double Chocolate and Lemon Streusel varieties.
The muffins come four to a package, and they’re a decent size. I shared part of my son’s muffin. The muffins are a similar texture to regular muffins (the ones with gluten), and surprisingly, a similar taste. They weren’t dry like some that we’ve tried. My son really enjoyed these. He preferred the Double Chocolate while I preferred the Lemon Streusel. Again, these muffins had no instructions. I wasn’t actually sure if these needed to be kept refrigerated, frozen or at room temp, so I followed suit with the grocery store and kept them in the freezer.
