We love snack foods and appetizers in our house. Sometimes we have them during movies, or on a cold day. Sometimes we even have appetizer dinner, with a bunch of different appetizers and snacks. One frozen snack that we were recently introduced to is Tornados.
About Tornados – Tornados are rolled tortillas, batter dipped and lightly fried for crispness. They are then filled with robust or flavorful ingredients. At 3.5 oz. each, one Tornado™ is substantial enough to be a meal.
Tornados come in six varieties :
- Grilled Chicken & Cheese
- Cheesy Pepper Jack
- Chicken Club
- Cheesy Pepperoni
- Southwest Chicken
- Ranchero Beef & Cheese
We tried four different varieties of Tornados – Grilled Chicken & Cheese, Chicken Club, Cheesy Pepperoni and Ranchero Beef & Cheese. Tornados are super easy to make. Just take them out of the freezer and bake them in the oven for about 15 minutes. RB and I wondered if they would be like some other frozen appetizers and have way too little filling. We were both delighted to find that there is a nice amount of filling inside the tortillas. We also liked that the tortillas weren’t dry, they cooked nicely and were flavorful and crunchy. My favorite was a toss up between the Ranchero Beef & Cheese and the Cheesy Pepperoni. RB’s favorite was the Grilled Chicken & Cheese. Since first being introduced to Tornados earlier this summer they have become a regular staple in our freezer.
Of note to Nascar Sprint Cup fans, Tornados is a sponsor of Ryan Newman’s #39 Chevy. The car will be appearing in three more races this season:
- 10/10/2010 Fontana Auto Club Speedway,
- 10/24/2010 Martinsville Martinsville Speedway
- 11/7/2010 Texas Texas Motor Speedway
Tornados Snacks are available nationwide in the freezer section of your grocery store. They are also available at select convenience stores across the nation.
