One of the first drinks I ever tried was a rum and coke. I liked it then, and still do now. Rum can be found in lots of tasty drinks. I recently was offered the opportunity to try a new brand of run – Shellback Rum.

ABOUT SHELLBACK CARIBBEAN RUM

Shellback is a new premium rum rooted in the spirit of discovery, much like the Shellbackers who are its namesake as they made their way across the equator. Shellback salutes that spirit and those who take on challenges head on, who believe that life’s rewards get richer the further one progresses along that infamous uncharted path.

Shellback Silver is a crisp, clean-tasting rum for the sophisticated palate. Its floral overtones are layered with the suggestion of vanilla and tropical fruit to provide a sweet, smooth taste that’s just right for sipping or mixing in one of our signature cocktails.

Shellback Spiced is a smooth-tasting, medium-bodied rum of remarkable quality. With no sugar added, its 12 exotic spices combine to offer unique overtones of caramelized honey, cinnamon and vanilla to create the distinguished taste you’re ready for.

MY THOUGHTS

I received samples of both Shellback Silver and Shellback Spiced Rums. Shellback Rums are 80 proof. I usually like rum with something else because rum can be a bit strong. I was really surprised to find that the Shellback Silver was actually sweet and very tasty, it wasn’t harsh at all. The Shellback Spiced is a very warm drink, completely different than the Silver. The flavor reminded me a little of a dessert, and there’s no missing the vanilla. There are a bunch of yummy sounding rum recipes on the Shelback site. I love apple cider and saw this on the Shellback site, and I actually can’t wait to try it!

Love good rum–too bad Brcardi removed anjoa? from its product list. Ah for a bottle another fine, fine drink real guignolet.
