Hefty Basics

We use a fair amount of disposable plates in our house. I know, not the most eco-friendly thing. But there are just times when I don’t want to do dishes after working all day. Disposable plates are great for snacks and sandwiches, as well as for cookouts and informal meals with guests. Unfortunately, many average disposable plates don’t hold up well. When I was offered the opportunity to try Hefty Basics Paper Plates, a new disposable paper plate, I accepted because I know the Hefty brand is very reputable from using their trash bags.

I am really impressed with the Hefty Basics plates. We used them for a variety of foods and they held up. I was most impressed when the plate held up under two pounds of wet chicken, even thought you could see the plates were soaked they held up and didn’t break. Take a look. You can see how heavy the chicken is in the first two, and how much fats and juice it left on the plate in the last. But it held up.

The plates held up well with cheeseburgers also, grease dripped all over them and they didn’t bend or collapse. We also managed macaroni in red sauce without a problem. It felt good knowing that these plates are biodegradable too.

What impressed me when I used some is that even with think tomato sauce, pasta, and meatballs the underside showed no signs that the plate had been used.
