Oscar Mayer - Sanewich

To give you some background on Sanewich, we developed this campaign because we noticed so many things in the world are unnecessarily complicated. In these situations, it’s good to know that Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh can keep it simple and provide deli quality lunch meats anytime.

Not to worry, each tarot card showcases real-world scenarios (like too much laundry or no internet). Plus, they have tasty sandwich recipes on them to show how to incorporate the sanity-saving Deli Fresh into your next meal or snack.

Have you ever noticed that sometimes the simplest things in life seem to get complicated? It’s true. Take a simple road trip, for example. Two years ago, the week before my college graduation, I took a road trip. I made the drive from New Jersey to Ohio by myself, to go to a giant concert. That right, I went alone. And it was amazing.

Turn the clock back an additional year, to 2012, and you’d see me taking that same road trip. But, it wasn’t the same. In 2012 my whole family and some extended family made the drive from New Jersey to Ohio, following the birth of my nephew. We’d taken the same roads, and were going to the same destination. But the trip wasn’t nearly as enjoyable.

What made the 2012 so different? People were together in close quarters for a long period of time. I believe I heard every variation of “are we there yet” that exists. It rained hard during our whole drive. Eight hours of driving under soggy, gray skies. The satellite radio cut out just as we entered Pennsylvania. If you’ve ever driven through Pennsylvania then you know why this was a problem – Pennsylvania never ends! People got hungry. Some of the places on the highway were completely closed. Others didn’t have selections that pleased everyone. Things that should have been simple – the drive, the meals, all of it – had become complicated.

Have you ever wished you could see what was in your future? In the spirit of plain, good fun, the folks at Oscar Mayer created a set of ten Sanewich tarot cards that give moms a peek into their future.  Which card did I draw? Ironically, my card was “The Long Drive (shown above).”

The solution for “The Long Drive”? A sanewich, of course. Sandwiches are (for me, anyway) a comfort food. They are perhaps the ultimate comfort food, because they’re highly customizable and require little time and effort to make. This makes total sense to me! I know that the next time I take a road trip with extended family I will be prepared. Headphones for phones, ipods, tablets, etc, so there’s no need to have to worry about finding a radio station everyone is interested in. A movie ready to go on the tablet as well. And, a small cooler containing sandwiches.

The awesome thing about Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh products is that there’s a wide variety of them and they’re easy to find. No waiting on line for anything to be sliced and wrapped, these fresh and tasty meats are right in the refrigerated section of your grocery store and ready to go.

My tarot card suggests a Sweet & Spicy Ham Pretzel Roll to get through “The Long Drive.”

All you need to make this Sweet & Spicy Ham Pretzel Roll “sanewich” is:

  • 2 tsp. KRAFT Honey Mustard Dressing
  • 1/2 pretzel sandwich roll (4 inch), split
  • 5 slices OSCAR MAYER Deli Fresh Bold Brown Sugar Ham
  • 1 KRAFT Big Slice Sharp Cheddar Cheese Slice
  • 2 thin onion slices, separated into rings

Life gets complicated enough, even when it doesn’t need to be. Fortunately, it isn’t that way with sandwiches such as this one. In all of like two minutes you’ve got a simple and tasty solution. Nothing complicated about it!

Wondering what your future holds? Go check it out! The cards are pretty spot on. You’ll enjoy a chuckle, and find a recipe for a sandwich on there as well. For more inspiration, visit www.sanewich.com. You can also connect with Oscar Mayer on Facebook and Oscar Mayer on Twitter.
