Oreo Truffle Holiday Ornaments Recipe From Val's Kitchen

Oreos – one of my favorite cookies. Chocolate – also a favorite. Cream cheese – a product I probably ought to take stock in as I always have about 8-12 bars on hand. Those three things together make an Oreo Truffle. Add a favorite candy of both my oldest son and hubby – Ree’s Peanut Butter Cups – and you have all of the makings for an Oreo Truffle Holiday Ornament. These tasty treats are a great way to brighten the table and bring a smile to everyone’s face. Here’s how I make them.

Oreo Truffle Holiday Ornaments

  • 1x 14 oz bag White Chocolate candy wafers
  • 1 package Philly cream cheese
  • 30 Oreo cookies
  • Christmas colored sprinkles (jimmies, nonpareils, whatever you call them)
  • 24 Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups Miniatures

Crush the cookies and place the crumbs into a large bowl. I put them in a large Ziploc bag and break them apart with the flat side of a meat tenderizer.

Soften the cream cheese. I microwaved it for 2 minutes.

Add the cream cheese into the cookie crumbs and stir well.

Place a piece of parchment paper onto a large plate or tray.

Use the Oreo mixture to form truffle balls. Don’t make them too small or the Reese’s will look way too big.

Place the truffles into the freezer for 25-30 minutes.

Soften the chocolate. I microwaved it for 2 minutes, then 1 minute, then 15 seconds at a time. You’ll want the chocolate to be melted and smooth.

Place the truffles into the chocolate, 2 or 3 at a time.

Use a form to make sure the truffles are completely covered in chocolate.

Use the form to lift the chocolate covered truffle out of the bowl.

Place the chocolate covered truffles onto the plate. Dust the truffles with sprinkles immediately. If you wait they won’t stick to the chocolate because it will have set.

Place the Reese’s on top of the truffle immediately. Don’t wait or it won’t set in place.

Refrigerate for 15 minutes minimum before serving.
