New Ragu® Homestyle Pasta Sauce. No Doctoring Needed.

A moment of truth. I almost never make pasta sauce from scratch. Don’t get me wrong. Homemade sauce tastes great. But it takes time and work. And space. If I’m making homemade sauce I have to make a lot of it, in order to make spending the time worth my while. And I simply don’t have freezer space to store lots of sauce. So for those reasons among others, I use premade sauces most of the time.

When it comes to premade sauces, a sauce that tastes and looks like homemade definitely comes out a winner. RAGÚ®’s Homestyle Pasta Sauce. Last week I was invited to a tasting event at The Bowery Hotel in New York City, where I and a number of other bloggers got to try new RAGÚ® Homestyle Pasta Sauce. Two chefs were on hand to prepare pasta dishes made to order, each featuring the new RAGÚ sauce.

Gathering in seats with candles scattered everywhere felt a bit like a bit family celebration. How appropriate, considering that RAGÚ® is a brand with a long history that began with a family recipe. RAGÚ founder Assunta Cantisano started selling pasta sauce made from her family’s recipe on her front porch in Rochester, NY during the Great Depression. She made the sauce from scratch herself, using ingredients grown in her back yard.

RAGÚ Homestyle pasta sauce is available in five flavorful, thick and hearty varieties – Traditional, Meat, Roasted Garlic, Four Cheese and Mushroom. New RAGÚ Homestyle sauces are perfect to use on classic family meals like spaghetti and meatballs or ravioli. For my lunch, the chef prepared a customized dish of spaghetti with RAGÚ Homestyle traditional sauce, turkey, garlic and tomatoes. Here’s a brief video showing the chef preparing my meal.

Doesn’t this plate look fantastic?! And, it tasted as good as it looked!

New Ragu® Homestyle Pasta Sauce. No Doctoring Needed.

New RAGÚ Homestyle sauce is thick like homemade. The sauce hugs the pasta, ensuring the flavor stays on your food instead of all over your plate. You probably won’t feel inclined to “doctor” this new sauce, as it’s hearty taste comes from vine-ripened tomatoes, onions and fragrant herbs. The sauce contains no artificial colors, no artificial flavors and no high-fructose corn syrup. All you have to do is heat the sauce and use it in your dish and you’re good to go. You can add some veggies or meat if you like, or you can use it as is. Either way, you’ll love the flavor as much as you appreciate the convenience, making new RAGÚ® Homestyle Pasta Sauce a product you’ll want to always have on hand in your pantry.

Ragu is great on those busy weeknights when I don’t have a lot of time to cook. It tastes great and is ready in a pinch.

Picking one of these to try first is actually pretty hard! I’d say it’s a toss up between the mushroom and the garlic. Maybe I’ll just combine them.

Ragu is my go-to when I don’t want to take the time to make a homemade sauce. I always grab a few jars when I go shopping.

I really like the thicker sauce. Definitely adding a few jars of the mushroom flavor to my shopping list. Who has time for homemade sauce during the busy summer months?

That looks awesome! I hate it when sauce is too watery and there’s nothing left on the pasta. I’ve loved Ragu sauce in the past, but can’t wait to try this new one.

I like that you don’t have to doctor it. I don’t make homemade sauce even, so I appreciate when it’s tasty right out of the jar.

Recently made the awful mistake of buying an economy shelf brand–its taste was awful. Never again.
