Homemade Chocolate Whipped Cream #Recipe

I love homemade whipped cream. I only started making it last year, and it’s just so much yummier then the already made stuff. And, it’s ridiculously easy to make! I came up with a Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cake recipe that I felt needed a particular icing. Due to the texture and flavor of the cake itself I wanted to have a very light icing, and I wanted it to have a subtle complementary flavor. I decided that homemade chocolate whipped cream would be perfect. Here’s how I made it.

Homemade Chocolate Whipped Cream Icing

INGREDIENTS
4 cups heavy whipping cream
8 tbsp sugar
2-4 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tsp vanilla extract

INSTRUCTIONS

Pour heavy cream into the mixing bowl.

Mix for 4-5 minutes, until the mixture is beginning to get firmer.

Add the vanilla, then the sugar 1 tbsp at a time.

Mix for another 2 minutes or so. The mixture is still getting firmer.

Add the cocoa powder in, 1 tbsp at a time. The flavor is up to you. 2 tbsp of the powder makes for a very subtle and smooth flavor that doesn’t overwhelm anything else, so it’s my preferred amount to use.

Mix for about another 2 minutes. The mixture should now be quite a bit firmer, and resemble whipped cream.

Serve on the dessert or cake or whatever you’re putting it on immediately.

Yum chocolate and yeah to the fact I normally have these ingredients on hand. I believe this icing would surely satisfy the chocolate beasties in our family.

Oh yum!! I make a similar recipe to this, but with organic turbinado sugar. Hadn’t thought to add vanilla!! We dip strawberries in ours, but will definitely have to try icing a cake or cupcakes.
