I try to keep some polenta in the house because it’s gluten-free. I was baking recently decided to try making a polenta bake for my son. This one uses sliced ham and cheese from the deli. It’s super easy to make. An fyi, the cooked polenta in this dish is on the soft side. If you prefer your polenta a tad bit more firm, fry the slices for 3-4 minutes before placing into the baking dish. Here’s how you make it.
Ham And Cheese Polenta Bake
- 1x 24 oz roll traditional polenta
- 8 slices ham
- 4-6 oz shredded cheddar jack cheese
- Italian seasoning
Preheat oven to 375 f.
Slice polenta roll into 16 slices, which should be approximately 1/2 inch thick.
Spray baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
Place the polenta slices in the baking dish.
Fold each slice of ham in half, then cut that in half.
Place the halves on top of the polenta slices.
Sprinkle shredded cheese on top of each slice.
Sprinkle Italian seasoning as liberally (or not) as you like.
Bake for 16-18 minutes.
Serve immediately with salt and pepper to taste.
