Hubby is a huge seafood lover. He doesn’t get to eat it as often as he’d like because I don’t make it as often as he’d like. That’s because I’m just not nuts about it like he is. So what’s a girl to do? Well if you really want to know, I try to keep stock of frozen fish that’s easy to make and that hubby thinks tastes good. Like Gorton’s.
Frozen fish isn’t just fish sticks anymore, like it was when I was a child. Gorton’s now offers a large variety of products including grilled seafood. The grilled seafood line includes:

There’s a couple of things about Gorton’s Grilled Fish Fillets that I like. First of all, the hard work is done for me. There ar two fish fillets in each box. They’re really easy to prepare, you can either cook them in the oven or in the microwave. I microwave. It’s convenient and a lot quicker. Second of all, all varieties are gluten-free, which means they’re safe for my youngest son to eat. Third, they aren’t all that high in caloried, with varieties having 80-100 calories per serving. Finally, they’re pretty flavorful. I am always skeptical about the taste of fish, as I don’t love fish. We’ve tried like five of the different varieties now and they all have a different flavor to them. And none were overwhelmingly fishy in my opinion, a big turnoff for me. So far my favorite is the Italian Herb Grilled Fillets. Hubby has liked them all but seemed to really favor the Garlic Butter Grilled Fillets.
Hubby works nights and comes home late, after the rest of us have eaten. Last night I had a lot going on and needed to make him something in a hurry. I chose to go with the Gorton’s. In under ten minutes I had a complete dinner consisting of grilled fish, vegetables and potato with garlic butter. Here’s how you can do it too.
10 Minute Meal – Gorton’s Grilled Fish, Vegetables and Potato with Garlic Butter
- 1x box Gorton’s Garlic Butter Grilled Fish Fillets
- 1x large potato
- 2x cups frozen vegetables (I used a Mediterranean style)
Take the fish out of the box and put it onto a small to medium sized microwave safe plate, or better yet a small wide bowl if you have one. Microwave the fish for 3 minutes.
While the fish is in the microwave, wash the potato. Then, rub the potato with olive oil and sprinkle salt over the skin, and pierce the skin in two places. Wrap the potato in a power towel.
Place the potato and the frozen vegetables on a large plate.
About now the microwave with the fish in it will ding. Put the plate with the potato and vegetables into the microwave. If you’re short on room, put the bowl with the fish onto the large plate.
Cook on high for 5 minutes.
When the 5 minutes has passed remove everything from the microwave.
Pour the garlic butter from the fish over the potato.(This is why I suggested a bowl, so it’s easier to pour the butter.)
