Easy Gluten-free Apple Fritters Recipe

My Dad and I love apple fritters. For years we’ve joked that most of the places we go to these days don’t have many apples in their apple fritters. After getting a deep fryer recently I knew one of the things I had to make was apple fritters. I did make a regular version that we liked, but my youngest couldn’t have any as he has Celiac disease. I decided he too needed to enjoy in the awesomeness that is an apple fritter, so I decided to make a batch of homemade gluten-free apple fritters. They were easy to make and tasty. Here’s how I made them.

Gluten-free Apple Fritters

INGREDIENTS

  • 1.5 cups gluten-free Bisquick
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp vegetable oil
  • 1 apple
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • powdered sugar

INSTRUCTIONS

Heat deep fryer to 350. (After making sure the deep fryer is clean or hasn’t been used for anything with gluten in it.)

Peel the apple and cut it into small chunks.

In a large bowl combine the gluten-free Bisquick, brown sugar, cinnamon, milk, oil and egg.

Add the apple to the mix and stir well.

Use an ice cream scoop to drop the batter into the deep fryer.

Cook each batch for about 3 minutes, shaking the basket occasionally and turning the fritters, until both sides are golden brown.

Use tongs to remove the fritters from the deep fryer.

I’ve never had an apple fritter, but they look so delicious I’m going to have to make them! Sharing this recipe with my SIL who had to go Gluten-free a few months ago; She wants delicious recipes, but is having a hard time finding them because she’s also vegetarian. Thanks so much for sharing this!

I don’t like fried foods too much at all and they don’t like me–I have a bad gallbladder which I definitely have under control because I eat little oil or fried stuff. These do look mighty good!
