Air Fryer Ham And Cheese Frittata is an easy family breakfast. This tasty and naturally gluten-free recipe is one that children can help prepare.
Let’s talk about cooking with kids. My youngest son enjoys being helpful and feeling useful. Since school is closed due to the Covid 19 outbreak and he is doing virtual learning, we have to be sure to practice more skills at home. One of the things his Occupational Therapist works with him on frequently is cooking and meal prep skills. They are important life skills and they help with fine motor skills, as well as gross motor skills to a lesser extent. When we have our morning video chats with her, I get out some foods that he enjoys eating and that he can help prepare.
Air Fryer Ham And Cheese Frittata , or a Denver Frittata, is a tasty breakfast dish that kids can help do most or all of the work for. As no stove is used, parents may feel more comfortable with their kids getting in on the actual cooking too.
The kitchen tools that are mostly ordinary kitchen tools. The Zyliss Lettuce Knife has proven to be easy for my son to use. It surprisingly cuts all sorts of things, not just lettuce. The flexible cutting board mats are something that I already had. I like them because they are flexible, making it easy to move things from the cutting board to bowl or dish.
Cut resistant gloves were something I bought after discussion with his Occupational Therapist. First I bought NoCry gloves in size small, which turned out to be far too big for my son’s small hands. I then tried NoCry Kids Gloves in size Extra Small. The fit on these was better but the fingers were still way too long. I then tried Hubert Cut Resistant Gloves in size extra small, which are the exact gloves he uses at school. These gloves are about twice the price and were still far too long in the finger. We do our best using either but I m still on the hunt for something that fits appropriately. For washing the gloves, we handwash in the sink, then air dry until damp, then finish for a short time in the clothes dryer. I had hoped the dryer might shrink the gloves, sadly that didn’t happen.
My son was easily able to prepare all of the ingredients for the frittata. He did the prep work and cut the ham, cheese, peppers and onion. He even cracked the eggs into the bowl. I let him put the bowl into the air fryer oven but I removed it, as bowls coming out of there can be very hot.
The resulting frittata was perfect in taste and texture. We ll enjoyed eating it, but I think my son enjoyed it the most since he took great pride in the work he put into making it.

I make loads of Frittata’s in this house. A great way of using up odds and ends of cheeses and veg in your fridge
